Wel I don't know - good theory - there will be a prize of one raisin for the best answer.
However the nameless Northern England venue is actually where i was born and bred and lived for 23 years compared to inverness where I've been for 3 and a half years...so I'm not sure that would be the case....I don't think I've developed a hybrid yorkshire/inverness accent....I suspect my three older bros and my bro in law would have pointed it out to me if I had
Anyway taking entries for what migh have ben said that I misheard.....
There are two funny things that have been said to me recently:
The other night I asked a beginner to dance and as we began he looked really puzzled and didn't seem to know where to start. i asked him if he was ok and he said "Yes, I'm just not used to my dance partner moving!" .... I think I know what he meant .....
At Southport i was dancing with a stranger and he said to me .... "You look as if you really want to burst out with something but you are holding back ..." I nearly said "Well my trousers are a little snug" ...... but again I think I knew what he meant but I just couldn't get it together with him ,
Whilst dancing at Southport, the guy I was dancing with turned to me and said (in a heavy French accent)... "dancing with you is like... pieces of cake!" - he was smiling... so I took it as a compliment, it also made me smile a lot
Last night, a guy wrapped me in and held me there quite firmly and then whispered into my ear..
'Go easy with me honey, its been a long time! '

On my first visit to Utopia, I danced with DTS for the first time (2 new life changing experiences in the one evening!) so I wasn't used to the accent.
"You're very late" he said.
Late? Huh? No actually I got here quite early.
Then I realised he meant 'light'.
Thanks sweetie.
"Ooops, I forgot to breathe"
Said to me last night, by one of our beginners at WCS....
"Your very difficult to lead....
you just keep going where I move you and NOT where I WANT you to go!"
He meant it too!
Well Durrr!
