Yes it does....but only because some DJ's will insist on playing the (over) long version when there is a perfectly good much shorter version available.

For me, a ten second version would be about eleven seconds too long. I think it may be an allergy of some kind...

I know there are many versions. My favourite (from thefew I've heard) is Ute Lempur's. There is one that is abhorrent: quite possibly the one Ducasi describes above.. add to that poor production values and a shrill sound world and it may well be the same one: the tempi changes are unnecessary and the breaks gratuitous. Apart from that, it's great!! (for changing ur shirt!!!)
No, I've never heard a version I liked... If the Ute Lempur version is the one you used to play at the GUU, nope don't like it either. Sorry. If it's any consolation, I used to like dancing to it back then.

As a DJ you do get asked to play all these tracks and the thing is to attempt to find other versions that they will accept and enjoy.
    Have a listen to
    Connie Fisher version.
I have a great London stage version that has a shot gun scene at the end, you would love having the track killed off that way!!

Nope. Like I say, I don't like the song, and Connie Fisher's ain't any better than the rest. Until maybe ZZ Top do a version, I'm not going to like it.

Would be better at the start.

If you want repetitive crap try Mercy by Duffy

I leave the floor when this gets played and make sure I glare at any women who approach me.

Hate Marmite of course but love El Tango De Roxanne. Get up and give it a try, its not only the good dancers that get up to it, I do too

For me, a couple of Marmite tracks would be:
    • Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) by Big & Rich - apologies in advance to SnowWhite and HotFeet that both love this track but it makes me want to go outside for fresh air every time I hear it
    • Night Prowler by AC/DC - I love it but when it is played I find myself fighting my way onto the floor against a surge of people leaving
