    Candyman.

Not only do I not like dancing to this one (its a bit fast for my taste) - I don't tend to enjoy watching people dance to it - not that I've never seen anyone dance well to it, but I've seen people I know can dance pretty well just looking a bit frantic!

I know other people love this track though.

She issued two version of this track and as some DJ's dont alter the pitch, its a very fast track. The 1st CD Album version has slower underbeat, well at least my has, mine was preordered from USA and perhaps not same as UK release?

    All That Jazz

Went through a phase of liking dancing to "all that jazz", but now I leave the room when it comes on. Never liked the song at all; it does my head in.

Love it, love it, love it! I still never get tired of dancing to ATJ - having said that, it's so rarely played these days that it's becoming a real treat when it does get aired

My "Time to leave the room" tracks:

"Call on me" - Eric whatsit. One of the most boring repetitive tracksever to hit the MJ dance floor IMO.

"Love Shack" - B52s. Goes on, and on, and on, and on.....

    Now I Can Dance!

It's repetitive, boring, has nothing interesting musicality-wise and goes on for fekkin ever!

But, I know a couple in Norfolk that love it and always ask for it.

Anything by Carlos Santana - LOVE IT!

In particular - Into the Night with Chad Kroeger (the guy from nickleback), this is my favourite song to dance to just now.

    AND - Oye como va......amazing.

    But I agree, I can't stand candyman.

Candyman... is OK. Not great, but fairly fun and danceable in a lightweight rock-and-roll-pretending-to-be-swing manner. Does someone neither loving nor hating it rob it of 'marmite' status?

Trying to think of something completely polarising (marmite-esque)....
Vem Vet is one I love, but many hate.
Mavericks (Dance The Night Away) - I loathe, and many love (or so I'm told).

I'm with GoJive on the frankly horrible Love Shack. Yet it seems very popular....

Just curious - what in particular do you dislike about it?

Generally, I simply don't like the music. It's not to my taste. I don't like very trumpet-y music. I also find the signer's voice annoying.

When it comes to dancing, I don't like the theatrical nature of it. I don't like the phrasing on the music, too many "hits"/"breaks". It doesn't flow.

And I didn't like the film, so that doesn't help either.

    Re: all that jazz...

I know there are many versions. My favourite (from thefew I've heard) is Ute Lempur's. There is one that is abhorrent: quite possibly the one Ducasi describes above.. add to that poor production values and a shrill sound world and it may well be the same one: the tempi changes are unnecessary and the breaks gratuitous. Apart from that, it's great!! (for changing ur shirt!!!)

Is well documented that "Now That I Can Slash My Wrists" isn't a fave of mine, tho I acknowledge it is for many people.

My own marmite track that is a fave of mine would be "Tango de Roxanne": this one doesn't tend to sit in the middle ground for many people.

You beat me to it, I hate that one with a passion, that's the only music I've refused a dance to, unfortunately with a lovely English lassie at a GU dance and I never got the opportunity to ask her to dance after the track, (she'd have probably blown me away anyway [deservedly])

Temptation by Diana Krall. I used to love it but I've heard it so many thousand times by now. It's a difficult track and one where you either have fab dance or a poor dance, not much middle ground. However, whenever I hear it in future life it will instantly transport my mind back to a sweaty dance hall in the early years of the 21th century. I'll probably still be able to sing along to the lyrics when I'm in the nursing home unable to remember my own name.

Well it certainly fits the "Marmite" label then.

Re: Marmite Tracks, you either love them or hate them

Jazz it up , I hate it (reminded by all that jazz) in fact I may actually have to delete this tune from my itunes.

Hate 'Now I can dance' but always fills the floor when someone talks me into playing it, but strangely I really like Sorrento Moon.

    I also like Pata Pata.

I won't go into the whole Mavericks thing as that appears to have been done to death.( I hate them more than TA).

I am coming out of a spell of hating 'The Snake' and starting to like it again after avoiding it for the last year.

Got to the end of this and started to question what do I mean by hate, clearly too much time on my hands.

HATE = Would only consider playing it if left all of my music behind and played everything else at least twice already. 3 Times in case of NICD.

(Or if Fletch asked for it obviously, well the Snake anyway).

I do still like this one, though I almost am expecting to stop liking it just cos I've heard it so many times. But then I do tend to hear it most at weekenders and in the blues rooms at weekenders so have had some really lovely dances to it.
