    Humphrey Lyttleton RIP

Sad news indeed. I'd start another game of MJ Mornington Crescent as tribute, if only I wasn't only posting from my phone.

Sad yes but if I was as active as he was at his age I'd be happy.

He'll be a very hard act to follow if they continue with I'm sorry I haven't a clue

It's a sad loss. I knew of his music, but never really heard it, however I did enjoy hearing him on "Clue" over many years.

However it sounds like he was still going strong, keeping busy, with all his faculties, until the end.

If I can keep going like that until I'm 86, and then go out on a high, I think it wouldn't be such a bad way to go - far better than gradually fading away.

Agreed. In the obit in today's Independent, it mentioned that he had all kinds of interests including bird watching and calligraphy and had spent two years at Camberwell College of Arts. He obviously had passion for many things and said "As we journey through life, discarding baggage along thw way, we should keep an iron grip. to the very end, on the capacity for silliness. It preserves the soul from dessication". Hear hear.

Yes, really sad news. I've listened to 'I'm sorry I haven't a clue' for years. He will be sadly missed!

I read an interview with the producer of ISIHAC a couple of years ago and he said that they would probably call it a day when Humph left.

If anybody is interested, Radio 4 are doing a Humphrey Lyttleton tribute this Sunday (15 June).

Hopefully it will feature Samantha, who has apparently become interested in Country and Western music, and the records of Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash in particular. Apparently she is a big fan of Willies and is working her way through a packet of Johnny's.

You know, she puts in a lot of hard work and she gets a bit fed up with silly comments on this forum about the way she checks the teams' seven inchers or pulls out the reproduction equipment and twists the knob. Samantha tells me she tries to take no notice of these pathetic, peurile comments from Stuart but it isn't always easy to ignore her knockers

Made all the more sad because Geoffrey Perkins (credited with being the creator of Mornington Crescent, and involved with many great comedies over the years) also died a week ago.

Just heard that Clue will return in spring 09 - not sure but will give it a chance

don't forget the prog on Friday

"Samantha has to nip off to the National Opera where she's been giving private tuition to the singers. Having seen what she did to the baritone, the director is keen to see what she might do for a tenor"

I've heard a rumour that Rob Brydon will possibly be in the chair.

Maybe Samantha could do it? I'm sure she'd go down well.

Apparently, they're thinking of having rotating chairpeople.

But yes, Samantha will help them pull it off.
