Question Left hand to left hand - then what?

Sometimes I end up in left hand to left hand situation (usually by accident - after some improvised/invented move) - and the woman looks at me like "ok - so how are you going to go from there - clever clogs".

And, I usually just either do some half-hearted reverse lady spin ('Ceroc' spin) or a quick hand change - neither of which are smooth.

I'm thinking it would be nice to have some smooth transition from this point. Any ideas?

    Thx.

(Maybe there is already a thread on this - if so apologies....)

Turn her anti-clockwise but go into an accordion position as she comes out?

How about bringing her in for a comb (then change hands as required) or just to grab hold of the second hand and go for some sort of double handed move?

How about simply lead her in for a sway or reverse blues basic? It's the opposite way to normal, but it ends up with you both in the same position.

One of the downsides about doing both MJ 'and' WCS is, the rule on always offering the right hand doesn't apply with WCS, so nowadays I often find myself forgetting which dance I'm doing and simply offering the hand that feels most natural, much to the horror of the poor guy I'm MJing with

Sorry guys, in this case, its definitely 'the' ladies fault!

Roll her in--- she rolls to her right and hits the arm barrier. Turn her the opposite way on the spot, going to comb and lean (her on your right side). Then throw her into a dip.*

I do this all the time and the girls love it.
A typical comment when I asked a partner for feedback: "Well, I didn't know there were any moves from L-L, so I had no idea where I was going, but it all just worked."

    ----

    * As you come up from the lean, rotate your upper body to the left to lead her to step with her right foot directly in front of you. Keep rotating your upper body to pivot her on that foot, then take her into the dip. With the right follower and music, you can go from lean to bottom of the dip in half a beat -- and the girls are grateful they are not on the floor, when you might expect them to be upset at being manhandled that way. Strange creatures.

Your lucky JL if your partners give you a quizzical look, mines usually just panic , drop all tension and change hands before I have half a chance to try anything.

I usually try not to give them time to think and try to prep them for a left handed barrier turn but half the time that doesn't work.

Thinking on it now, next time it happens to me I think I'll try raising the lady's left and and start walking clockwise around her picking up her waist on the way to start the flamenco walk around, I love that move but find it fairly hard to get into it smoothly at the best of times.

Sorry DD, that was probably me I have an iffy left elbow as it was stood on by a horse many years ago I'm very wary of LH leads...

The bit that referred to after you'd chucked 'em into a lean.

Didn't seem relevent as the throwing part had already happened

Maybe 'twas a bad choice of term?

Hey Nursey, no wasn't you, was something that happened at Marco's, can't remember who the follower was, it was ages ago anyway.

Yeah ,what's with the story about you getting stood on by a horse again "You were lying in a field on a summers day hoping that a Stallion might come along..." but then it didn't quite turn out the way you had envisaged it

There are some moves that I like doing that are LH to LH but I often seem to get a panicky follower you thinks they've made a mistake and rapidly change hands

A joke's not funny if it has to be explained in detail. Let's just pretend I never posted and you never read what I (did not) post.

    Maybe learn some L-L moves

The follow may still freak out but at least it will seem like a planned execution by you rather than an accident.

You can perform a LH to LH archie spin. Trouble is that leaves you still in the LH to LH hold but at least it buys you some time until you can think about a clean way out.

OK have just thought of one - Lead a travelling return and use your right hand to collect her into closed position where you can either go into penguin walks (if she ends up in front of you) or a walk around (if she ends up by your side). During this move you can drop the LH to LH connection.

Just thought of another one. Lead her along your LH side and then just before she passes you lead her in a free spin.

Lead anything you would on a R-R hand hold, but in reverse: Comb, catapult, lady-spin, yo-yo, hatch-back, wrap, ... They will all feel really weird until you practice them and get comfortable leading them.

(I would find a victim/volunteer and practice with them.)

NB) Look as though you know what your doing and there was no mistake on collecting the hand. What the follower doesn't know, won't harm them.

    Main Options For Me

Raise hand and assist spin the follower anti-clockwise to collect into a carosel (I can't spell) walkaround.

A reverse sway. In fact, any reverse R-R move, eg Yoyo. Requires a strong lead as the follower would not probably expect it.

Return follower clockwise while turning yourself anticlockwise (ala a sort of archispin) then offer R hand low for an accordion.

If all else fails, make something up by improvising. You might invent a new move!
