I do not think this type of put down (or any similar response) should be tolerated on this Forum.
I have seen worse, so Dave is not alone in behaving like this.

When are we going to clean up our act?

Yep, I think it is frowned upon. Firstly, the ignorant few who assume that there has to be some sort of sexual element to two men dancing together. There's nothing that can be done to enlighten these so its best to let them hold their opinions and walk on by. Secondly, where there is a significant gender imbalance, I think most women are unhappy to see two decent leads 'waste' a track by dancing together

I think, on the whole, experienced dancers appreciate the ability to follow and lead and in some situations enjoy watching two men dance together - I too very much enjoyed Tom and Alex compete in Blackpool in a serious attempt at taking on the more conventional model.

The dynamic of two men dancing together looks different to me and its something I enjoy watching and taking part in.

I hope that your experience is an isolated one, Trouble, and that men can continue to play with one another as they wish .......... I certainly intend to, see ya soon DTS

Perhaps the tone was that but then...

Hardly seems like the nicest way to phrase an opinion, does it?

Then report it and let the moderators decide. I don't see a problem with it; it doesn't seem like a particularly personal attack or anything.

But not all the way through the song. It appears odd like there's an alternative motive with a track like that.

Actually, knowing DTS, I doubt it was a put down, more likely impatience with the attitude, but it's hard to tell on a website with just the written word. So what you've expressed is your opinion, and so is what I've just said, nothing more or less. Only DTS knows.

As for cleaning up the act... (that's tear of laughter btw). You've not been around here long, have you?! Hell is more likely to freeze over first.

I think you need to read the rest of DTS's responses, you will find that he has had no problems with DJTREV and has stated he would be more than happy to have a couple of beers with him at Southport.

We are all entitled to have our opinions and even disagree with others.

In the past, debates have become heated and even a bit hostile, that is when the likes of DJ will step in and cool things down or even warm them up.

I believe this debate has been quite balanced

Please remember if you don't want to dance with somebody, dont dance with them

And if you don't like watching two people dance, then don't watch either.

To me, yes it looks silly, but that's half the point. Definitely harmless fun. The one thing I do find disturbing about it is that weird deranged giggling going on in the background behind the camera at the beginning of the clip. I'm finding that quite creepy...

    Hi,
The Mods have already reported back to me.
    Sorry Dave.
    Matter ended.
    I'm obviously too sensitive.
And yes, I am new to this Forum and it's liberal attitudes.

you're the one thats getting all shirty. DTS's response may suggest he doesnt agree, but at least he has the decency to say you are entitled to your own opinion - not everyone is that courteous.

edit: maybe you can ignore me , now you've said sorry

I think that every one should try dancing as a leader and follower at some time in the dance lifetime, as it really makes you appreciate how the other sex feel and the different issues each role has. I like watching 2 guys dancing together and can see that a lot of guys are much better at following than me.

PS really enjoyed dancing with you Trouble a couple of weeks ago and it was the most comfortable drop I’ve ever had!

I lead and follow and I feel (and have also been told that) it improves both ways... I love nothing more than to lead a good follower (whether it be male or female)

Re: Men having men - is it frowned upon?

One of the best leads I know is actually female, (good follower too, damn her ) Is there the same stigma against role-reversal dancing? (ie female dancing lead, male dancing follower) Would anyone notice?

I lead anyone and am happy to lead anyone, but that's not to say I dance with them the same way: I don't think I would dance UCP or Blues in the same way with a man as I would with a woman because I'm not attracted to them and there is very little 'chemistry' between us. I can always add more into a dance by generating 'chemistry' between us - when dancing with men I tend to be a lot more clinical and precise.

....hmmmm.... I've not analysed this side of my dancing before... I may change how I dance with men: If I can dance with "crinklies"* while injecting a little chemistry, then I'm sure I can dance with men in the same mind-set.

    (*not my term )

I personally think all teachers should be able to lead and follow. If they can't they are only teaching half a class.

I would not want to get anyone in trouble for dancing with me and lots of people have said " I do not feel comfortable dancing with another man", and this view must be respected.

At the end of the day it is personal choice.
