    Which MP3 Player?

I currently have an i pod - rather old, I believe it was the first one with the click wheel! It still works but is rather big and heavy in comparison to the latest ones. So I am considering buying a new one but not sure what to get?

I'm not fussed by what brand it is but I would like it to be fairly small in size (my current I pod is a bit to big for use at the gym etc) and for it to have more then 2G.

Also I have found the fact that I can only delete tracks off my ipod from the computer frustrating, is there a mp3 player out there which would allow me to delete a track straight from the player?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure of a MP3 player that allows you to do that.
But the second best option is one that doesn't need itunes. i.e any of the creative ones are good for that as they just act like a USB memory stick.

I currently use the Creative Zen Plus for the gym. Its only £24.99 from amazon for a 2gb version. Its very small and great with a good set of headphones.

If you are looking for something bigger check out the other creative mp3 players. I also use the Nokia N95 with a 6gb Micro SD card as my main mp3 player. But highly recommend any of the creative ones, I also know of other makes but can't remember there name . I'll look them up at lunch time and get back to you

You could also get the Apple itouch.. But I think its a bit over priced for what youare getting.. Great looking interface though, but again stuck to having to use itunes.

Anything your needing the most in a mp3 player?

I agree with knightengale. Creatives are very nice to use. You will notice the difference over an ipod and wont go back.

Try Ebuyer - Cheap Computers, Laptops, Digital Cameras, TVs & more! for some pretty good MP3 player deals.

I also have a Creative Zen V+ 4gb and am quite happy with it. Has a radio too (which is why I chose it over the Ipod - don't use it all the time, but it's good to have sometimes) and you can record on it too, although the results aren't very good.

Now I'd probably go for an 8gb one, but this was my first and I didn't really know what I needed. But I do like Creative.

One thing i say is a must is a good set of headphones as the ones you get with the Creative or an ipod are usually very basic with little / no sound issolation.

A good set of headphones makes any mp3 player sound amazing. I have the shure SE110 which are amazing for the price (max £50) but also sony , BOSE, Sennheiser are also good very good.

I recently bought Icey one of the current iPod shuffles, it's a teeny little thing and designed to clip onto your sleeve/collar/anything sutable. It's perfect for going to the gym because it's so small and light so doesn't interfere with your workout. Prices have dropped recently too so quite practical to have one just for that and something with larger memory/screen for other times.

I'd also second what knightengale says, ignore the headphones any player comes with and get some that are comfortable and sound correct. Icey got a pair of the sony EX71's for about £10, new, on eBay so it needn't cost a fortune.

Thanks guys! My brother and his friends also recommended creative so will pop to the shops and check them out, before buying one on line where my money will go further!

Would I be able to play stuff off itunes including podcasts and songs bought if my mp3 player is not an ipod? Like a creative for example, or this one: Stage Touch MP4 Player 4GB With 2.5" Touch Screen Black - Ebuyer

    It does 'look' good!

If you get it, please post a review, as my Dad's looking for one too!

When you buy off iTunes you get a protected file downloaded - meant to restrict you simply copying to other PCs. You need to check that your chosen player will play .m4p and .m4v files. If not, all is not lost because you can download a small file that converts the .m4p files to mp3s (don't know about the video I've not bothered replacing my iPod with a video capable one so haven't had to deal with that). Some of the other download sites send the files in .mp3 form so no conversion needed.

The podcasts I have are .mp3s so you will still be able to listen to them on the Stage Touch.
