To anyone who was there, there was a track played either by Nickelback or a band who sounds extremely similar to Nickelback - it was definitely rock/alternative. Played by Sheena (tiggerbabe) or Steve Lampert (most likely Steve, as he was on most of the night in the main hall?). Does anyone have any idea what the title of this track was?
I was on the desk when it was played otherwise I'd have asked at the time...
EDIT: Found it! =D It was a Santana single featuring Chad Kroeger - hence the reason I thought Nickelback. It's a lot better than a Nickelback track, though, to be fair. Wish I could have danced to it.

repeat of my earlier postCorn Exchange Well, Corn Exchange, Edinburgh was fantastic last night.
I wasn't in the best of form, but my partners were at the top of their game.
Every dance was enjoyable - EUPHORIC - is probably nearer the truth.
Thanks to all:- Dancers, Organisers, DJs, Staff.
As I said in an Email, "you had to scrape me off the ceiling" at Lana's.
Ooh since this has appeared to slide into a review thread then...
I had quite a good night though I just didn't quite feel my dancing was there (I don't know why). I still had a lot of yummy dances though .
The venue was great; it actually felt more like one of the "big" nights (like Beach Ballroom) rather than just a party night. Maybe that lead me to think I had until later than 1am or something but the night past really quickly.
I really enjoyed myself too. I've always enjoyed the Edinburgh parties, and with the change of venue and DJs, it's just got better.
That said, and it may be related, I didn't feel that I socialised as much I would have at Marco's.
I danced lots, but managed to miss a few folks, and didn't get all the dances I wanted with some of the folks I did dance with. The night went very quickly. So many fab dances!
Only got two minor complaints - the bar prices were a bit steep. And the main room floor was a bit slow in places - think it could do with a good clean.
Hopefully I'll make it over to Edinburgh again soon. Want to thank Elaine for giving me a lift on Saturday. Much obliged.

So, was it worth the 50% price increase?? I must say I was a bit shocked to find out the ticket price has now gone up to £12..... And that was in fact one of the reasons I didn't go on Saturday.
Obviosly the music should be good with Trampy and Tiggerbabe playing, and by the sound of it there was ablues room too? Hmmm, now that's worth paying a little bit more for, definitely..... But I still think £12 for a monthly freestyle is a bit steep....
A Stingy Little Monkey
The venue is so much better than Marco's, that IMO it was worth the extra £4. It is still a (very) cheap night out compared to other ways of entertaining yourself for 5hours.
I did hear from a very few that a boycott was being organised, which is a shame. I hope they all get word of how well it went and decide for themselves if it still offers good value.
For me, £12 seems very expensive: and that's from someone used to freestyling in London!! For that amount of money, I would have expected a full night of blues room and not just 2 hours.
Again, only my personal opinion... Tiggerbabe was a little hot and cold for me: but when she was hot, she was red hot.
The price increase was the only way to be able to dance in this incredible venue, it would have been nice if the venue hire fees were only 50% more than Marco's, but despite being 10 times more expensive to hire, we felt it was worth the extra cost to have a venue that all Edinburgh (and Scottish) dancers can be proud of.
The Corn Exchange will only be booked for special week-ends (2 or 3 times a year) and we plan to add even more value for the next one (in August).
The Corn Exchange was amazing and whilst it seems a few of you were put off by the price, it was still one of our busiest parties this year. Everyone looked incredible and the atmosphere was electric.
As Scot had made no bookings for parties in Edinburgh beyond February, parties in 2008 will be in different venues, and we have booked the best available venue every month until we can secure a regular favourite. April will be at the Greenway Centre, Harversters Way at the regular price of £8.00 but numbers will be limited to make sure everyone has a great time.
I personally loved the night (despite not being fully recovered yet), I had some great dances both in the Main room and the Blues room... As many of you said, the night went so quickly and before I knew it, it was time to pack-up...
Franck.
There's an A.P.P. for that!
Ouch! 10 times the price of Marco's??? Well, that would explain the crazy price-up!
I didn't realise this would only be an occasional venue, I thought this was the new monthly venue. So this is basically like another Beach Ballroom night (posh freestyle but without celebrity guest teachers and workshops), but with added blues room? Cool. Will have to try it out in August, then.
I really enjoyed myself on Saturday night: the fun class was really fun, the music was supreme, the dancers were amazing to dance with or even just watch and venue had a special magical feel to it.
In fact I enjoyed myself too much, I had whole range of aches and pains come Sunday (afternoon)
I didn't think the entry price was excessive, the bar was little pricy for soft drinks but that didn't detract from the night for me.
In my opinion the night was nearly perfect which I find to be amazing considering it was our first visit there.
I'd definitely go dance there again if given the opportunity.
There was a lot of people there on Saturday (I wonder how many?), dancer floor was really busy for a good while after the fun class.
We must be getting close to having enough people coming along now to make a night in the Assembly Rooms a viable option.
That would be getting close to heaven in my book: city centre location, marble entrance way to make you feel special, massive quality dance floor for those triple turns, separate adjacent bar for a little socialising, adjacent blues room possible...hhhmmm dream
Combine a party night at the Assembly Rooms with one of Franck's workshops or tea dances on the same weekend and we would be attracting visitors from all over the UK.
Strictly Martini presented a Villainesque night of entertainment in the Assembly rooms back February there which included some swing dancing for £17, I was so tempted
Didn't go in the end as I thought none of my Ceroc friends would be there and everyone I asked was busy that weekend
I'm sure us Cerocers could do a night there for £15 or under.
I would definitely be up for that, in fact I be so up for it I would be buying two tickets.
is that a NO then?
between not being allowed to anticipate a lead, dance card already filled, not able to sing and only my brother and second sister any good with the mandolin, I'm on a hiding to nothing.
Besides, I'm not letting you near my mandolin playing sister.
