I was wondering if anyone could advise how long contact lenses are supposed to last under guarantee?
There's nothing mechanical or electrical in contact lenses to stop working, hard lenses will break if you squeeze too hard while cleaning or soft lenses will tear, neither of which will result in an optician replacing the lenses. They'll also scratch if you wear them in a hard dust environment (drilling holes in brick and sand stone walls used to damage mine).
I think the only fault you could claim on is if you think the lenses were incorrectly manufactured and are irritating your eye(s).
Get disposables. Less hassle.
What type do you have? And what is the problem?
I've worn gas permeables for 2 years at a stretch, but I think that an optician would want you to replace them every 6-12 months, for the health of your eyes. However, I always took excellent care of mine, had my eyes checked regularly and never had a problem (till I stopped wearing them for a while and then lost my tolerance ) So if you're on gas permeables and it's over 6 months old, they'll probably tell you it's time to change it anyway.
I'm now on monthly disposables. Current pair I think there might be something wrong with one (it keeps clouding up, and the solution isn't getting rid of it properly) so I'll probably take it back and get them to change it. I'm on a monthly contract, so I don't anticipate a problem.
I got monthly disposables. I Should be taking them out every few days for a wash etc but the current pair I have in are nearly 3 years old. I work in alot of dust and this week got one covered in paint (gloss dripped in my eye ). They only come out when I go swimming. I really need to get them chaged now as my eyesight has gotten worse (or the lenses are not working propper which is prob the case).
I wear daily disposables, no cleaning etc needed & generally fantastic - although I suspect I've had a dodgy batch as a lot for my right eye have come out of the packet torn... Oddly enough was thinking only 5 minutes ago I must get in touch & see what they have to say! But other than that (which is rare) dailies are well worth it.

My current lenses are the best I have ever had. You wear them for a month (day and night) then chuck them. I usually take them out two or three times during the month to give my eyes a breather, but the optition said that is optional.
However, the best thing is........ I DON'T NEED READING GLASSES ANYMORE !!!!! (unless I am tired)
That is why I can read the very very small print on the tiny Ceroc laptop at Utopia without my reading glasses which I have used for years
AND when driving I can read road signs as well as the details of the controls, radio and Sat Nav on my dashboard etc.
They are called 'Multi-focal' lenses - Freedom - Amazzzzzing !!!

That date is recognized as her official birthday.
Yeah, I really wouldn't recommend to anyone leaving their contact lenses in that long.
*makes mental note to book optician on Tuesday.
Can you buy contact lenses online?
