I'm certain that they advertised the next T-dance at Lickey End as the 6th, not the 30th last time, and UKJive seems to confirm it.

Would have liked to have gone to Derby tonight but no lift down there so unfortunately I am stuck at home

I will however be trying my hand at being practical and will be attempting to put together my new hi fi shelving unit I just bought

Re: Who's going where? Weekend 28th/29th/30th March 2008

Just back from having a big kebab some where in Worcester, Gerry's gone to bed (the light weight).

So I thought I would get me two peneth in first.

    Kidderminster.

Met Steven666 more or less as soon as I arrived, we had a couple of dances in the blues room as they were setting up, where he told me he was going for a PB ? in what most dances in one evening, his record was 50 I believe, my reply easy! i'm up for it, so 2 pens 2 bits of paper and we were off.

It realy changed the evining trying to dance every dance, and checking on how Steven was doing.

almost at the end we relised we were neck and neck, so decided to go for the 69 dances, just wan'ted to hear OXO'S anounce 'Fletch' and Steven' were about to do 69 in the blues room, ok I know I have a childish sence of humor.

Wonderful fun, thank you SWAY for the 70th dance as the lights were on and everything was been packed away, we did double trouble with Steven666 and Steven you weren't fooling us saying you were hot, big blushes, bless.

    other bits.

Couldn't believe they tried to charge me £3 for a glass of soda water, I ant tight but you can stick that.

The staff were horrid and cause a right load of hoohar taking everyone's very expensive drinks after the bar closed at 12.15 even though the venue was running til 2 am. This is worthy of an e-mail of complaint, I felt so sorry for Debbie Atwood it wasn't her fault.

Music was a bit of a blur concentrating to much on dancing every dance.

I did have some wonderful dances with Phil (furball) Debbie's Demo

Tom Baker your the best as per.

My lovely Joe who WCS with me

Alex (girl) 1st time, I know why every one raves on about you now your fab.

OXO'S fab set and nice to get a few dances with you.

Pop's how did I miss you.

    First move........what can I say.

Stokie we gave them something to watch.

BARMPOT ....your as lovely as ever

Paul Bulldog....flip me i'm queuing now.

Steven666 afor so many dances thank you.

Gerry for putting up with my constant, can you just ....cos I carn't miss this dance, love you.

Kiddermister is a lovely venue, just a shame about the staff.

nice to have a late night finish

    Corn Exchange

Well, Corn Exchange, Edinburgh was fantastic last night.
I wasn't in the best of form, but my partners were at the top of their game.
Every dance was enjoyable - EUPHORIC - is probably nearer the truth.
Thanks to all:- Dancers, Organisers, DJs, Staff.

Re: Who's going where? Weekend 28th/29th/30th March 2008

I was a little warm (not red) after so many dances. Always fun to keep count, and when there's rivalry!

All in all a fun night all round at Kidderminster.

Expected a bigger venue but the size was perfectly fine in the end.

    Good.

Dancing so much and with forumites I hadn't yet met. Note to self, must improve basic following skills, soz Gerry.

Music was fab for me (especially the blues room). Wish we had more of that up north.

    Not so good.

I did wonder where my drinks went as I stocked up at last orders. Thieving sh**es.

Being smacked in the forehead early on. Now I know how it feels. Ouch.

Someone telling my mate "so when are you going to start using Ceroc moves?" A question that defies belief. Lol.

Anyways, I enjoyed the night and it's a venue at a distance that I would travel to again.

Neg rep, hmmm...how mean...but how satisfying it could be!

Unfortunately, I'm still wokring on getting the more difficult ones to behave, but when the master plan is fully hatched I'll fill you in!

The wording on this poll was my cut and pasting from uk-jive - and I may have confused matters by introducing an extra "WCS"

    Uk-jive listed it as
West Coast Swing - Solihull : The Magnificent March Charity Dance - Land Rover Sports & Social club
I think that when I put together my first post on this thread, I assumed that a Charity Dance run by "West Coast Swing - Solihull" would be a WCS Charity Dance...
    Love dance, will travel

Just about pulled it off with Tim to Lost in Music. Had some other good dances with Steve but all the tracks were a bit too fast. We had some good laughs trying to keep up, it was more of a social evening. Shame you could not make it.

Just wanted to say, the 'Taste of Tango' workshop put on by Marc and Rachel yesterday at the Casbah was fabulous.

Don't know about a 'taste' I now have a new 'appetite'....am feeling another addiction about to start, just not enough time to fit it all in .

Well done to you both it was well planned and expertly executed .

Re: Who's going where? Weekend 28th/29th/30th March 2008

Mixed weekend of dancing for me.

Hammersmith Sat night wasn't fun for me. Some top notch dancers there but music was a real mixed bag, which is what this venue and its cross section of punters needs I guess but mostly a bit too fast for my liking (and he played a version of Duffy without my favourite bit included ). I found the floor sticky in places and the floorcraft as dreadful as usual so I ended up sitting out and sulking most of the time. It has certainly confirmed for me that I shouldn't enter the Ceroc Champs even in the Lucky Dip since I can guarantee getting at least one faster track that I wouldn't dance well to.

Bisley yesterday was the first time I have made it this year and there was a good turn out. Really enjoyed the line dance warm up class (makes so much difference to your enjoyment when you can actually do it without making mistakes ) and some good social dancing.

Then went on to Berko on the way home which was a real touch and go decision given how much I disliked it last time but I am so pleased I did as I had a really good time. The Blues Room has been rearranged and there seems to be much more space - I never once felt crowded last night and enjoyed some lush music from Marc and Rachel. Also ducked into the main room from time to time and it was busy but tolerable (and Ian did make an announcement regarding floorcraft) - some good tracks in there too.

Re: Who's going where? Weekend 28th/29th/30th March 2008

Well I ventured out to Hammersmith, despite dodgy ankles, tail ends of colds and being a bit tired after the tango workshop (more about that elsewhere).

Managed to get there a bit earlier than usual and it seemed relatively quiet to start with, but peaked around 10.30-11ish, then got quieter. Either side of the peak the floor was fine, during it, it was a bit too crowded, and yes, the floor craft wasn’t great – but I still think that’s mostly to do with it being crowded, with a few notable exceptions.

I quite liked the mix of music Mas played, although I did find the leap from fast to slow on almost every other track a bit disjointed at times. I’d be off the floor listening to something mellow thinking “must find someone to have the next dance with” when something fast would come on and I’d find myself scarpering as I didn’t want to dance to it (e.g. Candyman). I also didn’t like the version of Mercy that was played, and that's currently one of my favourites

The dances I had ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous… Managed to track down BarryShnikov and had some lovely dances, likewise with RhythmKing – these two provided my best dances of the evening, thank you guys On the downside were the guy who appeared to be skipping along to the track and the one who virtually wrested me out of Mr Shnikov’s arms at the end of our last dance and proceeded to try and grind his crotch on my leg and walk me backwards into another couple whom he could clearly see!

It was good to be out dancing properly again though – this was the first time I’ve danced since Storm due to the sprained ankle and a bad cold, so I was very rusty. I realised that dancing to your favourite tracks in the blues room at a weekender is a totally different experience from dancing to exactly the same piece of music at a packed freestyle…

I think I had him at Putney. One to be avoided.
