    New Categories at Britrock 2008

Just checked the Britrock Website and they have 2 new additional catagories this year.

One for WCS - Open to all levels

Youth Freestyle - For 9-16 years of age

Is it just me or does it seems strange to have a WCS for all levels ? and also a Youth catagory when an awful lot of venues dont allow children in to learn?

personally I think the youth category is great idea, lots of kids learn from their parents at home, there seems to be a fare few younger dancers who started in their early teens.... guess the proof will be in how many entrants there are in this category and what the rules and juding criteria are for it.

I agree it is a little strange. From those I've seen dancing WCS at the weekenders, some have obviously been doing it for a few years, and most are only just starting to get into it. Competitions is a good way of improving more rapidly, but I don't think it's fair to mix those experienced WCS'ers with those who are beginner/intermediate standard. Why not have intermediate WCS and Advanced? I'm sure they've got the time to split it into two catergories instead?

Ahhh... is she from my old neck of the woods by any chance?

If it's the young lass I'm thinking of, she used to come with her mum to the old Yate class... A very nice dancer indeed

At the Country weekend at Brean there was a Gold Section in their comp (over 60's) - wish there was one in the MJ world, especially in Brighton - there are now quite a few good dancers over 60, whereas the now 'senior' section is over 45 (Ceroc) and there are sooooooooo many great dancers in that age group (or getting there) even at over 50 there are lots

Give us really old gits a time to shine (I could ask Pops to dance with me )
