    Sports Injury Clinics (Recommendations)

Has anyone been to a Sports Injury Clinic and found it helpful?

I saw one I hadn't noticed before from a bus at Old Street Roundabout in London, but I'm leary of putting myself in the hands of quacks.

Never been to a sports injury clinic but I have always been cured of my dancing injuries by physiotherapy. The cures have always involved specific exercises which have often been the key to the cure, so I recommend that if a physio gives you an exercise, that you do them religiously.

I imagine that a sports injury clinic would be staffed by physios?

There is a cracking Sports Physiotherapist in Stoke-on-Trent. My daughter has been to him a couple of times. If you need to get back on your feet in a hurry they will give you the very best advice and help to do so. They'll also help to ensure that you don't make things worse by following incorrect 'mates advice'

Me neither, I know nothing about them.

I would be very useful if we could get recomendations all over the UK.

I've had a recommendation for one in Aylesbury.

they can be they can also be staffed by Osteopaths, chiropractors as well and often a mix - the main difference between a sports clinic and a normal clinic is that they understand that stopping your sport is not generally an option and know how to keep you moving or get you moving as quickly possible.

A good sport clinic is a god send!!!

there is a great physio in Stourbridge... if I could remember the name and address would post it - really saved CJ's knee last year

Apologies if this appears twice, I did post at lunchtime but it's disappeared!?

I'd thoroughly recommend going to a physio, I've had both dance & non dance related injuries & mine sorted me out each time with one visit & follow up exercises - & a little patience obviously! A physio will have massage, manipulation etc at their disposal, mine did reflexology too, so you won't limit yourself to just one type of treatment.
I've never been to a sports clinic, but would guess they'd operate on very similar principles & would expect them to have physios there...

I know this guy through work: Nicola Maffulli Biography - Professor of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery - Expert Treatments
and although I've never needed to see him myself, he comes highly recommended and particularly works with knee and ankle problems (which most dancers get, I suppose)!

Yes I went to one about 10 years ago

I twisted my ankle just before going on holiday

She was amazing (and very beautiful)

She worked for the Davis Lloyd Center Bristol and she saved my life

I gather she has left, but 'am assured the chap who has replaced her, is just as good, but maybe not as beautiful

That's a really informative website regarding injuries.

    It's another one in Newcasle-Under-Lyme.

Anyone been to a London one?

    Re: Sports Injury Clinics (Recommendations)

The only place I've been to in London was a few years ago, a physio who was based in a leisure centre - not working for them, just operating in tandem. That case did need a few goes as I'd done a spectacular job on my back, much worse than normal. He did sort it out & gave me many day to day posture tips & exercises - so again I'd recommend physio as they seem so adaptable.

It was based at Seymour Leisure Centre, in the West End - physiointhecity.com - think they are in other parts of London too.

A friend in the pub last night recommended a particular person. Olivier Leoule at the Oasis Clinic.
That's also in a Leisure centre.
Michael Sobell Leisure Centre at Holloway, North London.
