It was announced before the last Hipsters that there was a new night opening in place of it. The new night is called Vibe and has a different partnership, so it's not really a relaunching of Hipsters.

Does that mean there'll be no warm cans of Fosters, no bright white strip lighting, no echoing acoustics, and no Roger Chin on the decks?

    No I didn't think so....

    So totally different then.....

I am not sure if VIBE will be my 'cup of tea' as I believe the music is more up-tempo / disco type, whereas I love the chill-out music Foxy & Rocky play, so Utopia for me would be no contest, however I would have liked to be there on the openning night - and I wish Simon, Seamus and Franco all the very best in their new venture

Silly and a shame really, would have been much more impact if they missed one month, especially because of the clash

Yes Franco did make an announcement, most of us guessed the new partnership, however at the time I personally didn't make the dates connection.

Knocking an event before trying it eh? Now who does that remind me of
There was no bright white strip lighting at the final Hipsters, in fact it was too dark I couldn't see a bloody thing! Which for my partners was a bonus.(Got there before Robd )

Do you think it was an accident that an extra Utopia was put on for the first friday of the month...?

Expect to see regular Ashtons on the First Friday too...

Rocky said that the dates for Utopia (Ashtons) were announced 4 months ago though.(See post 20) Whereas the new venture is a fairly recent announcement.

    Nice try!

As stated earlier on in the thread, it's not an extra UTOPIA, it's our normal monthly event brought forward one week to avoid clashing with Weston. We set this date in December last year and posted it on our site.

Last year we held 2 events at Ashton's on the 1st Friday to avoid clashing with other weekenders, and we'll be doing the same again later in the year in September.

So no conspiracy I'm afraid, but after looking at your other posts it is nice to see you're still banging the Jive Nation drum loud and proud. I do hope Simon appreciates your efforts......unless of course you ARE Simon.

I think Simon has an ID on here already, SimonSays ("doublemanspinripstoptopturndoublespringertornado ") or similar. Can't recall the last time I saw a post from him though.

I think you're right - It's probably Shameless his teaching buddy. Shows loyalty which is no bad thing, even if it was a little misguided on this occasion to infer non-existent conspiritorial, bollitical machinations..

Hi Freya, try putting a message to that effect on the message board on the main UTOPIA website. From the feedback we've had this does work for most people. This is because in the main event pages we direct independent males to look at the message board before booking solo in case they can help out a damsel in distress.

I'm altering the poll to maybe, as I'm still feeling twinges in my leg.

I really hope I can make it, and it is slow music, so not too strenous.
