Who's going where for Easter? Weekend 21st/22nd/23rd March 2008

Another pre-poll thread for the Easter weekend (for people to suggest events they're interested in, before the moderators make it into a poll in advance of the weekend itself).

If you want an event to be in the poll, mention it on this thread, and please use the format as described by Lory below. Don't leave it to the last minute either - the moderators usually seem to create the poll around Tuesday, so it's helpful if events can be mentioned on here before then.

My selection of events I found on uk-jive that interest me:
Fri - Ceroc North West - Hyde (Manchester)

    Sat - SalsaJive - Sunderland
Sat - Strictly Ceroc - Solihull
Sat - Hot and Funky West Coast Swing Freestyle (West Coast Swing Central) - Coventry

I put the Sunderland one on because I'm probably heading towards the North East of England for Easter - are there any events that people can recommend in the area that weekend?

I am taking part in my other mad hobby - reenacting the English Civil War battle of Naseby on horseback, with The Sealed Knot at Caldicot Castle. Dancing on Thurs 22nd, and then back to dancing on Tues 25th for me

Sounds like a possibility... Just need to find a lift...

Alternatively, any other parts of the UK I should be visiting?

Re: Who's going where for Easter? Weekend 21st/22nd/23rd March 2008

Really considering the WCS in Coventry on Saturday but am really unsure. I only know the basics and I mean the very basics and I am feeling very nervous about attending a WCS freestyle. Part of me says it will be good to immerse myself in WCS for a few hours and the other part of me says stay away until I know a little more. I really don't want to be giving anyone bad dances. Any advice or thoughts?

I know exactly wot you mean. I am also the same. Not sure if i could do a WCS freestyle yet even though i love it. Will probably wait till Southport and hopefuly get a few more pointers in the meantime. going to study CD's as club i was going too shut.

Im sure however, in your case, that you will follow as always with perfection.xxxxxx so go for it girly.xxxxxxx

I have to admit I only now the basics but I think I've cracked the whip (ahem) at last, and I wouldn't dare go to a WCS freestyle yet unless I had one partner to practice with all night!

Re: Who's going where for Easter? Weekend 21st/22nd/23rd March 2008

I went to the last one and there were people of all levels. I only know the basics too, just have to go for it.

Pete and Graham were great, they were both really patient and spent some time out for a complete beginner

I expect there to be beginner leaders, who will want to dance with followers of the same level. Plus lots of great dancers who can show us a thing or two

Come on Mac, we can practice a few dances.

OMG how did I miss out on Oxford this Friday, with a Blues room and on my doorstep

Just booked up for this, there are still a few tickets left. I am only going to the freestyle, cant dance after a heavy meal.

Thanks Fletch for pointing this one out, hope to see you there.

So, I've decided, I'm leaving it to some other moderator this week!
