This is probably going to offend some people. It's time to release the inner cynic... it's used to offending people.

The people who I believe get the best deal are attractive, beginner women with any of natural ability.

Whenever a gorgeous woman comes to her first ceroc class, there is always a queue of (possibly drooling) men of various levels of ability wanting to ask her to dance. If she has any ability, she will dance with a huge range of people and have the opportunity to learn. If she has any (dancing) ability, she will learn quickly. Not all of the men are necessarily sleazy, but it's a pretty clear pattern of behaviour. The same seems to be true of attractive beginner men, but less so (and I don't tend to notice them so much).

Conversely, if a less attractive person starts, they are likely to sit out a lot of dances - unless they are willing to ask people themselves.

As one gets better at dancing, this remains true to some extent: but the dancing talent comes in to play more and more. But the attractiveness factor is still in play. Most of the best ceroc dancers I know are good looking people (and, again, I think this is slightly more true of women than of men).

Not necessarily - said ladies are also prime targets for certain of the natural predators that have evolved to take advantage of a dance habitat. EG the Sweat Ninjas - you know the ones - an arcane order of highly specialised middle-aged men, who've spent a lifetime training in the ancient art of seizing on brand new attractive young beginners, hogging them for as many dances as possible, slobbering (or sweating) all over them, 'instructing' them endlessly in how to dance (while yanking their arms off), finally sending them running away screaming, never to return...

    There's always a downside.
