Gary Gygax fails his saving throw :(

Gary Gygax .. co-founder of the Dungeons and Dragons game in the early 70's has died aged 69. He died on Tuesday

Many a night I'd wasted at high school and college thanks to him.

R.I.P. Gary.. you've gone to rattle your D20's with the great dungeon master in the sky.

Are you sure those nights were wasted? I learned a whole bunch about the power of mythology and imagination, about inter-personal relations, imagination, problem solving as a team, leadership, about fanzine publishing, ("News from Bree") and probability and chance. It was one evening out of the pub whilst working away from home whilst on contract. Like MJ it was an example of what a small band of like minded individuals can achive, from having fun to an international business. There are at present two shops in my home town selling little lead figures of mythical creatures.

And I can imagine: "Gary, are you wasting your time with that stupid game again...."

oh don't get me wrong.. I enjoyed every minute of it. I didn't mean "Waste" in the way it came across.. i meant I spent a lot of time with D&D when there were other things I could have been doing..

It started me on a long path.. D&D, AD&D, Paranoia.. Tales from the floating vagabond, Gurps, Hero, Call of Cthulhu, Vampire, Werewulf..sorry WOLF () Toons.. Marvel supers.. The list goes on and on and on..

Actually it's Something I don't do these days.. Never seem to have the time..
