I had another Kleeneze catalogue through the door last Friday and on Tue and Weds this week I arrived home to little notes saying that my reps had called and would I please leave the catalogue outside the door for them when they call again on XXXXXXXXX
Something about these and similar ventures - Betterware, etc - really winds me up and I never return their catalogues to them (and never order from them either). I guess I think that if you want your catalogue back you should ask if I want it before giving it to me first. On the other hand, they are just trying to earn a few quid and it saves stuff going to landfill if you give it back to them for re-use at another house.
So, quick poll time. What do you do with unsolicited catalogues through your door?
What? No one recycles? Yes, I'm definitely at the point that I'm uncomfortable if I have no option but to put something recyclable in the bin.
Blimey, dude, these people are just trying to earn a crust. They probably have to pay for the catalogues; I bet the profits they make are minimal. I like Lou's solution - just put it straight back on the doormat.
The ones who piste me off are the people who shove anything up to a dozen take-away leaflets a day through my letter box. Chinese, Indian and most numerous and tiresome of all, pizzas. Serves me right for living in the university ghetto.
I don't know why it winds me up so much, especially as I never understand why people get the hump over unsolicited e-mail (assuming it's not offensive to them in some way) since they aren't forced to read it, just click delete, yet here I am with the same attitude albeit a different scenario
Its probably because they are entering into a "contract" with you without your say so - i.e. they give us something we don't want and hassle us for it back - and we feel oblidged to return it but annoyed at the same time...i throw it outside the door like Lou. We never have to return an unsolicited email, so they are far less annoying.
They give the green bin men a job!
Recycle most fliers, but if I hear one being put through the door, then I often find the distributor (I live in an apartment building & they usually take the lift to the top floor & walk down) and escort them from the premises, explaining that this is private property and they have no right to be in the building. They tend not to come back.
I look at the date they are coming back for their catalogue - if I'm going to be out I just leave it outside my door with no order. If I'm in the house that night then I always order something I don't really need cos I feel guilty if I don't have an order to hand over - I'm such a wuss
Jennifer's reasonably well endowed as it is. I don't know why she'd need any more equipment
If it helps you feel better - leave it out with the plastic bag slightly open. You can toy with the person who comes to collect it - imagine their hopes soar as they see an obviously opened catalogue sitting, temptingly, on your doorstep - and how those hopes will be cruelly dashed when they look inside!
And if you're lucky, it might've rained & the catalogue will be soggy.
See - you still can be evil with my method.
