If you are on a strict budget and have mouths to feed, are you going to buy a punnet of strawberries for £2.99 or a jumbo size bag of frozen chips for the same price?

    Id buy 12 chickens

My grand parents lived on driping during the war with bombs going off over their heads

If they had a heated bath it must have been christmas day and they had real winters in them days and if the temperature fell below -10c they would light the candle etc

In terms of calories, you'd probably get more nutrition from £2.99 worth of frozen chips than you would £2.99 of potatoes. Besides, the potatoes, merely boiled, would probably not be that tasty. So that means you also have to include in the price whatever you like with potatoes - mint sauce, butter, sour cream...

My Dad still eats bread and dripping.

He still likes to go on about how poor his family were when he was little..

He'd say "My mum used to pin a kipper to the back of the door and we'd all have to wipe our bread on it".

He's prone to the odd exaggeration is my Dad.

Americans "do the most dying", and Japanese "die a lot less". Don't people just die generally? I'd kinda think that less dying means less people. Or are you saying that the people in American are dying earlier in life and therefore there are more people dying?

Plus Japan is a warm country, they can easily stay off the grease.
