OK, let's define sleaze. (all definitions welcome)
    How many do I match!

Also, is there a minimum age limit to be classed as a sleeze? There seems to be one round here.

I'd say someone who spends the whole majority of a dance in a close hold/blues and then just chats to you/chats you up the whole time, regardless of the music, then does the same to the next person and the next. I know someone like that. Infact I know a few...

Mike Ellard teaches it that way. He had a joke for it when the follow pushes the lead away - "She doesn't want to know"

The one I hate is when a guy is holding my hand near his privates. It's hard for an onlooker to see that as the 2 hands are hidden between the two bodies.

If I don't fancy the guy, then that is sleeze and I'm offended.

We have a hand by the thigh signal that leads into a couple of moves (that I know so far).
Is that me upto a sleaze factor of 3.5?

Oh yes, it's a kosher move, but lingering around and rubbing my hand against his privates is not kosher.

It's that close up stuff in the tube that leads to over familiarity in the rest of our lives.
I'll need to move down to London to practice.

And if you do fancy him, it's OK? Even if he doesn't know?

    Re: What is Sleaze?

Thats hard... its often just a feeling. Im happy doing any close blues move with most guys, so its not the moves i dont feel comfortable with but sometimes the guy and how he does them. Often its the things they say in a sleezy way, corny chat up lines etc. A main thing is that they are doing the moves regardless of feedback from the woman. Eg most guys will see im comfortable with what there doing and go from that. A sleezy guy will continually press you into him even when your trying to keep a bit of space to comunicate that you dont want to do those moves. Sleezy guys are generally not the better dancers in my experience. But the untimate classification is a sleezy older guy who deliberate rubs against you so that you can feel he has a semi. Its not nice! (Exceptions made when young, cute, can dance well, and you fancy the pants off of them of course...)

    I'm in the OK range
    Cat,
you'll have to verbalise, cos us sleazy guys can't read the subtle messages/body language.

dancing would be boring without the sleezy moves! had a creepy sleezy guy follow me out to my car once at dancing tho which wasnt fun.

But to turn it on its head, do the poor guys ever get scared by us being sleezy? Cos i know i tend to add a few wiggles into my dancing even if the guy isnt always leading that sort of stuff.

Its a sad fact, there 'is' no hard and fast rules.

What I love doing with one guy, I might hate with the next but I think the thing that determines a sleaze is, they just don't read the signs.

Us girls have ways of red or green lighting and its when these signals are ignored, that the girl feels like the guy is taking advantage and becomes a sleaze.

That about sums it up for me.

If I trust a dance partner then some moves are fine. It doesn't mean I have to know them very well, I can sometimes feel comfortable and trust a dance partner fairly quickly.

Some leads I can quite comfortable dancing very close for a whole track (a few forumites included) because I know them and trust them and its lovely and snuggly! Not at all sleazy. But the same hold for a much shorter time with an unfamilar lead feels uncomfortable. It gets sleazy when I pull out of closer hold and he keeps pulling me back in. Not happened very often, and I'd just never dance with that person again.

Completely agree. At one point at Southport I was so tired and achey I wasn't able to do much more than shuffle about but still really wanted a last dance. I found one of my mates who I'm very comfortable dancing with and had a lovely "sleepy" dance. But with someone I didn't know/wasn't so comfortable with then it wouldn't have felt like such a nice dance.

The thing that annoys me is if you try to subtley pull out/away from the moves/person you don't feel so comfortable with and they see it as either a challenge or you being a tease.

    Oh yes.

It all goes on...frotting, perving, touching, rubbing, licking...

    ...and as for the men.
