    Oh super I'm addicted already

I posted a bit back about starting in Nottingham so thought I should at least write about it! I booked into the beginners workshop and had it in mind to get some classes in first but was sent away on business so had to workshop with no experience. I was quite glad it worked out like that as I obviously had much more confidence going in and have since been to two classes and a freestyle. Everyone was so nice and complimentary on my first night as it was still my first proper go and I was generally able to get through without too many stumbles. It was a great headstart and such that not many people believe me when I say I've only been doing this for two weeks Fast forward to this week and I went to the freestyle having no idea that the quality of dancers was on another level completely! It was a bit much to be dancing with one great dancer after another, especially seeing as I'm just starting to feel a little underwhelmed with the beginners myself and will probably step up at the next class. I've already stolen a few from the net to add to my repertoire which surprising enough seem to be being followed! I had a bit of an up and down first night and wondered if I really could get hooked, but with two more incredibly enjoyable nights, weeks of non stop thinking through moves and each subsequent class seeming an age away its clearly too late for me

So were you at Marcus Garvey last night then? It was a pretty good night I thought.

Don't underestimate the value of doing the Beginners' class, even if you do start to go to Intermediates. Martingold posted some good reasons on another thread:

firstly you never know what you might learn (no one knows everything and different teachers sometimes show different things)

secondly its a great warm up

and thirdly we were all beginners once and they need the encouragement from the better dancers which helps them learn a lot quicker
On the warm up point, it's not just physical; it also gets your brain into the right frame of mind to freestyle. (Well, that's how it works for me, anyway.)
    Love dance, will travel

I was indeed; it was really good if not a little more intimidating / inspirational Still all the ladies were so good, it probably made me look a little better! Are there any others here that frequent Marcus Garvey and who's toes I very probably stood on last night
