Mini Workshops - what would you like?

For a long time I've thought that 4 hour workshops are counter-productive. Most people struggle to retain even a portion of what is taught and can end up been confused and frustrated. Although its not just about the length of time, teaching models have a major role to play, I've always favoured mini-workshops of about one to one-half hours long.

Applying these practically means you have to pick topics that you can teach in that timespan. The reason I'm so interested is that I've been 'volunteered' to help out with our nominated charity at work, the charity being Christies. The concept I'm in the process of planning will be a day of mini-workshops (may be one room, may be over two), with a freestyle in the evening (still working out whether to have a one room or two room event). Where I would appreciate some feedback is as to what type of workshops you think would be attractive to punters. There would be a maximum of four time slots during the day but I think 3 is the maximum anyone would do and still retain their sanity.

The poll includes my original brain dump, if you can think of any others please ask the mods to add? Once I got some ideas for workshops, I then need to find someone to teach them . Already got our local hero Chris T to provisionally agree to teaching some WCS .... may also need to beg some favours off my southern teacher amigos. Wonder what bribery it will take to persuade them to leave behind the streets of gold and venture to the North's desolate wasteland where people speak funny and where ALL the good football teams come from. Offers?

I like the idea of two hour workshops - mostly because my brain always gets fried at the end of the second hour and anything after that just confuses what I thought I'd learnt (admittedly I'm easily confused).

I don't think an hour is long enough - especially as I strongly believe workshops should be far more technical than classes. I also like the idea of tacking a freestyle session on to the end of a workshop. Whenever this is done, it gives you a chance to practice what you've learnt.

My mini needs the thermostat changed and two new tyres. Can you cover that please?

I'd love to be taught a few more ideas for those rabbit in the headlight moments - the ones where the man stops dead and looks expectantly at his lady and expects her to do something interesting.

Not so much for mini workshops, but for all of them - some written notes?

Because I can never remember stuff unless I write it down - so when the time comes to put into practice what I learnt a week ago, my mind goes blank.

It doesn't have to be extensive, but a couple of sheets of A4 summarizing the aims and contents would be useful.
