What, like she coached him when he buggered up?

Oh no, it was fellatio, I remember now.

Isn't it great that you can click on a thread called 'The US election thread' and discover that people are talking about Captain Pugwash?

Could it be that that's all the Americans are good for? The movie industry, TV and arts? That's twice this thread has strayed into film.

Yes, DJ, I think McCain set up the Morgan Freeman film reference.

He looks like a Klansman, or a chip off the old block.

Think the awful Hillary Clinton may be losing.

Pennsylvania will be the decider state.

She is trying to persude Obama to do a deal with "a dream ticket" so that they both run as democrats against the Republican, McCain.

Obama is not interested. Even if his name was at the top, why would he want Clinton as his vice president.

Does no one remember how she misappropriated funds as a Senator quite a few years ago?

There was a scandal with her and medical funds.

Well, now that it's definitely going to be Matt Santos vs. Arnie Vinnick, or whoever, I'm starting to dislike the Republicans again.

They're definitely reclaiming the mantle of the Nasty Party, and I'm reminded of how utterly hopeless Bush was/is, at pretty much everything, over the past 8 years.

I very much hope that the Dems get a landslide victory in all areas this November, if only because it'll finally teach the Republicans that they're not a bunch of loony social conservatives who spend like crazy - they're a fiscally-conservative libertarian party. Once they ditch the religious nuts, they'll be far more attractive to the electorate, and a long spell in the wilderness is exactly the way to teach them the error of their ways.

Oh, I think they managed that a while ago when they decided they were in favour of torture (sorry - "enhanced interrogation" that was a war-crime when the Japanese did it). I think it's going to take a long time for countries to forget that, particularly in the middle-east. Apparently, the most common reason foreign fighters in Iraq give for their involvement is because of the mistreatment of prisoners at Abu Ghraib.

Pity the impeachment action won't actually come to anything if you ask me.

Perhaps these badges doing the rounds amongst Republicans will help...

Just to demonstrate how manifestly stupid and nasty the Republican Party are, they've now filed a lawsuit against Obama, for "use of campaign resources" when visiting his dying grandmother - and the lawsuit was filed on the day she passed away:

RNC Hits Obama For Visit To Sick Grandmother

Good grief, can these people get any more evil? Even the mid-90s Tory party weren't this bad.

    Re: The US Election thread

I am happy that someone who is 47 years old and not 72 years old is to become president.

Having watched a live debate, for me, Obama came across as far more credible.

All Presidents have presures from those who financed them and from the senate etc. Good luck to him and his family, a tough job to do. Not a job I would relish.
