Heath Ledger has been found dead in his appartment, at the age of 28, of a suspected overdose. What a waste of a young life!
I always wondered if that was his name or just a random selection of nouns?
Heath Ledger
Seems his real name was Heathcliff Andrew Ledger per IMDB
Waste of a life indeed, what on earth makes them do it?
Depression I spose - and loneliness. I guess the break-up of his engagement and having a little girl with her mother wouldn't help matters.
They do say that drug-related suicide screams that the person wanted to be helped - as it's not so "final" if someone finds them in time.
There's obviously a lack of help for these people. Either that or they are to proud to go and get the help they need.
Not sure if it was deliberate suicide or just an accidental overdose. Either way - stupid, stupid, stupid.
I don't think the lack of help or the inclination to get help is limited to celebrities and/or people with plenty of money.
Generally I find that society is ok if your wounds are visible - such as a broken leg. When the wounds aren't visible, then some people just don't understand - especially if they haven't experienced the problem themselves.
There is help out there - but a lot of the times when people are in these states (if this is indeed the reason he died) they can't see that there is light.
My concern is that with the focus on success and being constantly happy in life, that there isn't acceptance for sadness as well. The downtimes are required so that we can appreciate the uptimes.
*rant over*
I agree (to an extent) but at the end of the day the person has to want to get help. I do know what I'm talking about here as having watched a very close family member slide down the rails it is a very painful experience. You can help to a certain degree but you can't force them to do it.
Everyone has different circumstances and if I had the money to help out I would. I'd rather have my family and done all I could to help. Unfortunatley there also has to come a time when you have to step away as they keep the finger on the self destruct button while promising to you that they are getting help.
Of course it would help if the people in the 'care & health system' actually looked at their patients properly instead of prescribing medicine that they cannot take while going through the destructive state.
Oh, right, now I understand. Thanks.
Yes, I was never so disgusted with the way parents use children to hurt each other until I did family law for a short while.
Penniless husband (impoverished by wife, of course, getting the child maintenance payments) getting an order for reasonable contact - alternate weekends and holidays - and watching helplessly as his wife moved 400 miles away, apparently simply to make it financially impossible for him to see his kids more than a couple of times a year. Just one example. It was visibly eating him up from the inside.
I think this is such an absolute tragedy.
He was an amazing talent and from what I understand from some interviews they have broadcast on the radio with some of his friends that he was just an amazing person.
I loved every movie he was ever in and not just because he was so good looking but because there was just an incredible aura about him.
He will be missed by many.
