I do understand - I think I'd feel the same way myself. Fortunately I'm too ugly for that to ever be an issue.
I assume this is how celebs feel about unwanted paparazzi shots - but at least they've actively sought out publicity.
But, have you actually contacted the site admin? A polite request might solve it.
Maybe you should try wearing a hat, apparently that's what all the Cool Cats are wearing now.
lay opinion - whenever you pay over money for a service both parties are entering into a contract. Spmewhere there was almost certainly a notice, and, if you had asked, there would almost certainly be a written copy of the contract that the photographer was working to. If you did not specify terms then you will be judged to have accepted theirs. Reasonable terms in writing, even if you have not read them, usually take precedence in a court of law. The photographers will argue that you get the photographs a bit cheaper because of the small chance that they will be saleable elsewhere. The website probably bought them in good faith. They are not obliged to waste that money and do exta work for no fee. It is a good photo. Be proud.
My advice is to print out a copy of the website to show your grandchilren and move on. It is a cheap lesson if you can learn from it.
My quote was from a wedding photographers contract. Similar contracts are used by videographers. If anybody does not want their wedding or dance disaster appearing on "Are you being framed" or an insurance ad then they had better enter into some tough negotiating beforehand.
Some of the dyslexic ones are wearing a banana.
