Ok I know its January and New Year resolutions and all that but it seems every day in all the papers (Tabloids) and magazines there are new diets/ new fitness regimes and new everything.
All to get the fat bastards like myself slim or to make thin sods think their fat or those with average bodies to want perfect bodies, or to make those happy with their shape/weight think they shouldnt be. The stress of it all will be the killer
Although I note McDonalds had record sales of hamburgers last year in the uk
Now my view is diets don’t work long term (I think 95% don’t re the stats) but maybe good for a kick start
Now if someone invented celery stick that tasted like a hamburger but with no calories?
What’s the solution?
I read 2,000,000 people in the USA are over 40 stone
It’s too easy to say ‘Life Style change’. there wasnt 31,000 Mc Donlalds in 1900. ps dont look at pics in attachment if you hungary

I also assume many people who die from being over weight don’t want to?
I’ve loss 6lbs in my latest ‘attempt’ to shed a few pounds
I see there is so far a 70% ish success rate after reading Paul McKenna book (see 5% with diets) but his book hasn’t been out that long
Enjoying your food rather then just ‘swallowing’ I thought was a good idea plus a lot of the other stuff he mentions
Should people give a dam , unless you cant get out of the house who cares apart from the diet industry. Should we have a constant ‘battle’ with ourselves ? We live a lot longer then our 1900 foke and the older generation were bought up on dripping and bombs during the war ,hasnt harmed them ?
Diet fads?
...don't read the papers then.
(lost 4 lbs since Sunday..)
Of course diets work long term - as long as you change your diet from one thing to another e.g. cut out all fried food and eat more greens. The concept of diet is "what you eat" not "what you are eating this month" that would be a "fad diet" - stay away from them
[quote]Now if someone invented celery stick that tasted like a hamburger but with no calories? [\quote]
It wouldn't work. Its not the taste thats the issue - some overweight people do like celery you know
Don't snack , eat sensibly and get some exercise. What’s the solution?
Most people don't want to die. Many people don't think about consequences though.I also assume many people who die from being over weight don’t want to?
You managed it easily then. SuccessI’ve loss 6lbs in my latest ‘attempt’ to shed a few pounds
So in time gone by we had a few main meals with dripping? big deal.We live a lot longer then our 1900 foke and the older generation were bought up on dripping and bombs during the war ,hasnt harmed them ?
Now we have 100's of fast food chains, supermarket ready meals and entire aisles in the supermarket of biscuits, sweets and fizzy juice.
Also Medical science is slightly better than it was in the 1900's. Blood donation wasn't even organised until the early 20th century.
Indeed, heard at the gym on Tuesday "You can tell it's January, it's full in here. This won't last past february"
I intend to stick it. I have an in-house-fully-trained-guilt-machine aka Mr Darcy if I don't. He has been made to promise to give me the whole "I'm so disappointed ... " speech if I bail.
I was quite surprised that Clapham was relatively quiet last night - last two years there first 2-3 weeks in January have been incredibly busy (with huge numbers of extra women) and I've hated going. Have always assumed it was a new year's resolution type thing...
It was quite civilised last night.
Perhaps the thread title is a bit miss leading
I wasn’t trying to suggest 30% more people are on new pledges this January to last year
Maybe the media reports etc are the same this year as per last year
What do I know im just hungary
