I say - if the hat fits then wear it!

David - please be careful here. Recently announced government legislation is aimed at penalising so called 'hat-ist' behaviour. There is a consultation paper being reviewed at the highest levels entitled 'Equal dance opportunities for hat wearers'.

The intention is to have trained inspectors at dance halls round the country to identify and punish offenders with on the spot fines (or confinement to muggle dancing for 3 months).

This follows representations from various members of the hat lobby (including the Fedora Freedom Federation, supported by the Bandana Brigade).

What about bandana-ism? Is that still acceptable?

... while yesterday - despite her recent disqualification - Daryl Hannah, while racing a group of bandana wearers, collided with Anna Friel, knocking her into a nearby trashcan... prompting the headling: 'Bandana band and a banned Hannah binned Anna!'....

OK - I admit it - that was diabolical, and I am hanging my head in abject shame. Honest

Duh - "One bandana, two bandana, three bandana more, five bandanas..." - as Stewart said earlier

Outstanding! This puts my 'helmet and hood' combination to shame.

Partially psychological - in the same way I avoid pose-y shoe wearers. Partially practical, I have enough trouble just avoiding hitting their heads as it is - add a hat to the combo and I guarantee I'll knock it off.

    Anyway:

I've danced with two hat wearers that I can think of, both dancers pre-hat. The hats just add to the ness.

Definitely - I pinched one hat mid-dance, which seemed like a great idea until I put it on and realised just how hot and sweaty the hat had become - ewww!

I seem to recall the subject of bandanas talked about a few years ago.I remember seeing an elderly guy at Camber and Southport with a bandana and recall commenting at the time that he looked anything but cool, but he thought he was the dogs gunads.
Mind you there is one high profile teacher who is very partial to a bright red flat cap.

It's a bit of a hassle spraying the inside of the hats with water before each dance, but it has the desired effect.... no one ever steals 'em twice

So i think my earlier point of bandana wearers thinking they are the dogs gunads is confirmed. . i have never danced with a bandana wearer... (makes note to ensure seek and find next bandana wearer and see if they are indeed gunads)

Hat wearers on the other hand tend to be lovely dancers who dance with all and i think look cool too. Plus added bonus, u can always find em. Handy for the stalk and grab tactics.

I have a collection of Hats, Panamas , fedoras , caps, etc but I've never danced in them..

I do own a bandana too.. but I never wear it.. it doesn't really suit me.

Perhaps I should wear it for the Beach ballroom though

Shouldn't you keep that for Ann Summers parties?

We lose 90% of bodily heat through our heads, that's why hat are recomended to keep warm.
Just think how hot they are to dance in.

Perhaps it's easier for the lead to wear one than it is for the follow?

Having said that, considerate leads don't put hat-wearers into drops and multi-spins.
If wearing a hat would stop me being put into a drop, I'd try one where there was AC, but I like mult-spins.
