    Re: Defining Moments

First time I enjoyed an MJ evening enough to know I was hooked (five weeks in. Hey - I'm a slow learner)
First musicality workshop (Beach Boogie '98) - which quite simply changed everything.
First workshop with Steven Mitchell - where it finally sunk in that connection isn't just a technique - it's a way of life.
    First proper blues dance.
Private lesson with Andy Fleming - transformed my leading forever in the space of one hour.

    Re: Defining Moments

It would have to be the following

    * Reaching 10 years this year of dancing
    * Getting respect from ladies for my dancing
    * Becoming part of the crowd and people inviting me to parties more.
    * Improving my social skills
    * Becoming a better all-round dancer in MJ, Line and WCS
    * Going to Boogie by the Bay in Oct 2007 and learning WCS in a US environment
    * Jive Addiction - the first one in June 2004 paving the way for those that followed
    * Seeing Jordan and Tatiana at Rebel Yell in 2003 which ignited my interest in WCS and to acknowledge everyone who has made the effort to come across the Atlantic to teach us here.
    * Making new friends in the Jive circuit who I don't see except at weekend events and freestyles but remember me from ages back.
    * Cat, Lee and Paul Warden who continue to provide their well-informed knowledge and experience to those eager to learn.

I knew there was a similar thread somewhere ... from How do you judge your own ability?
I bumped the thread last year, but it's still worth reading, at least untill the chit-chat

    • When I had just finished one dance and before I could grab a mouthfull from my waiting drink I was asked for another dance by someone else.

    • When another lead who had been dancing a lot longer than me asked me what I did with my feet on a partcular move.

    • When I could catch with the wrong hand in a class and still manage to swap hands and catch for a double handed move without losing the beat or throwing my partner off (most don't actually notice now - I suppose this is just practice - I can never get my right and left straight!)

    • The first time my partner grined and made that 'woo' sound after a complicated/stylish move - then you know you pulled it off.

    • When a partner pleaded with me to continue dancing to the next track.

    • getting an "oh good" from your new partner on a class rotation

    • being "booked" for a dance during a class by someone you just stepped through it with

    • getting a "wow" from your partner on the dance floor

    • activly being looked out (hunted) for a dance

    • being asked how to do a move by another dancer (and it dosn't count if you're a taxt/teacher!)

    • getting a spontaneous round of applause when a dance finished
And more milestones on "my" thread here:Improving My Dancing
and a few more here:What Are You Working On?
