    Xmas telly?

    Any recommendations?

Doctor Who and SCD for me, apart from that, I've no idea...

Got my Time Out guide last night... looks pretty boring apart from what you've mentioned.

    Get a few DVD's in?!

    Re: Xmas telly?

Royal Institution Christmas lectures - one a day throughout next week.

Often the most stimulating telly, and almost certainly the one thing over the next fortnight that is unique. Everything else - even the sitcom Christmas specials - will be on time and time again.

This year's subject - how the body works - cellular biology. (Christmas Day's programme is all about how the body fuels itself - food!)

Don't forget the audience for the lectures is children, so if you are a cellular biologist, you're unlikely to learn anything new. But for everybody else it's likely to be fun and interesting.

As for Dr Who - nobody, but nobody, on the Titanic would have worn anything like the outfit that Kylie Minogue is wearing in the promo photographs. You might have found such a 'waitress uniform' at a London brothel, but nowhere else. It's such a sad descent from the 1970s hay-days...

I used to know Christmas had arrived when I'd sit down with the bumper Xmas editions of TV Times & Radio Times (no integrated issues in those days ) and plan out what I was going to watch during the long school holiday. I bought a TV guide this year but I have to say it doesn't give me the same thrill

There's an extended edition of 'Extras' but other than that............

    Re: Xmas telly?

Why isn't there a Christmas edition of Heroes, eh?

That aside, I really want to see 'The Shadow in the North', despite Billie being the lead role. I've read the books and loved them but I've heard that last year's one 'The Ruby in the Smoke' wasn't very good. Can anyone offer any comment?

Also, however much I hate 'enders, I still want to watch the Christmas episode just to see that bastard Max get his comeuppance.

Other than that, I think I'll give up on telly. Oh, wait - I don't normally watch it anyway, silly me.

This week, I will be mostly watching Oliver Twist on BBC1. Anyone else watching? Isn't the boy playing Oliver absolutely adorable?

    gah i missed it tonight!

i wonder if its on ondemand??

i watched it last night and thought it was very strange but didnt really know if i was right or not.

i mean im so used to the scary yet camp behaviour of ron moody in OLIVER! that seeing this foreign quiet fagin was rather strange...

the beginning was amazing though, so realistic and just attracted me to carry on watching!
