I don't know if its any help but Andy said this, in the 'Where to dance in Brighton' thread

It's being run by a guy who comes to our classes. His name is Warren, he used to dance in the London area, has moved to Brighton, appears at many weekenders and usally wears a hat. He's quite a cool dude and does many different dances.

This night is for all dancers, not just MJ. I get the impression it's really late-night as the finish time is 3am - ish!

To me on other forums, the thread creator makes the poll, not others to create it.

Anyways, I would have gone to Chester if I had a ticket but I'll go to Sandbach instead if I feel upto it.

Well, this isn't 'another' forum but if you feel like that, why don't you make your own poll and then we can all moan at YOU!

Personally I'll just use the uk-jive list and go from there. It may not cover every event but it covers more than London and London.

The forum is not meant to be used as an advertising events list as most lists are such as UK Jive... The forum's "What's on where" list is mainly for people who want to meet up and want to see where their friends on the forum are most likely to be. If you want a list of venues that are on, then you're looking in the wrong place.

The reason we've done it this way, is to allow people to let us know what's on - we initiate a "What's on weekend of the Xth" thread, typically a few days before the start of the preceeding weekend. Then on the Monday, the moderators can then create a poll, based on this information, listing these options, for people to vote on.

This allows us to collate this information all in one go, rather than having to add options a dozen times during the week when someone says "Ooh, I forgot XYZ event, can you add it in please". So, in theory, it's more efficient to collate this information in advance.

Bias in events listed reflects the bias in the information supplied - we make no effort to provide any kind of national coverage, we just collate what we're told about. So yes, if you want actual comprehensive "what's on" information, you're better off with uk-jive, modernjive.com (or lyndaslist.com in the South), as those are specific directory sites.

These polls are useful to find out who's going where, and to have "real people"-based information about the relevant events. They're not supposed to be detailed.

Cor, I'm being all reasonable and Lory's getting grumpy - it's a topsy-turvy world. In an attempt to redress this unnatural imbalance - personally I don't care where you lot go, except in a negative way, coz I hate you all
