    Where to dance around Brighton

I have got to attend a rather boring conference in Brighton, so i thought i might escape in the evening and check out a local dance class. Any recommendation for a friendly venue in that area?

Ah, someone from Sussex! Miss Flicts, I shall be in Haywards Heath over Christmas and New Year. Is there is much Ceroc going on in the area? I visit my parents a lot and have never Ceroc-ed there

They aren't the best nights for the Brighton area but..

Andy McG does Monday at Lancing and Tues at Findon, but both of those are nearer Worthing (20 mins drive from Brighton).

There is a Tuesday night at Citygate Centre on London Road (Central Brighton) which I think is quite popular although I don't go myself. Run by Danceparty.

You can also do WCS on a Tues at Ropetackle Centre in Shoreham (about 10-15 mins from Brighton)

Not sure if there's any others - anybody know of any more?

Haywards Heath Ceroc is pretty good on a Monday night at Clair Hall - there is a review in the Club Nights Review thread somewhere. Plenty of space to dance, parking, nice bar area, etc.

They also do Saturday nights once a month which are good too. They might have a Xmas party or two, I'm not sure. You can check on the ceroc website (I think they come under ceroc surrey even though it's Sussex)

I'd definitely recommend giving it a try - they are pretty friendly. There is plenty of other stuff within driving distance too.

Re: Where to dance around Brighton

Yippee! I might get to meet Connie

Why not come down on the Sunday night and visit our "Smooth Sunday" in Findon. I know what it's like at these conferences, they expect you to meet up for dinner and before you know it the time's flown and there's no time to go dancing Trick them by going dancing before the conference starts

If you can get away we do have classes on the Monday and Tuesday nights. The Monday in Lancing is quite a new night and has about 40 or so dancers who've been mostly dancing 3 months or less, athough there's a smattering of more experienced dancers. The Tuesday in Findon has more experienced dancers and is quite a busy night. Both the venues are easy to get to from the A27.

There are other venues in the area: on a Monday there's Ceroc at Hayward's Heath and on a Tuesday there's Dance Party at the City Gate Centre in London Road in Brighton. Clair Hall has a massive car park, parking around the City Gate Centre is a bit difficult and I'd recommend you got a Taxi from your hotel. Of course, I'd prefer it if you came to my class so we can meet at last However, you'd also have a good night out at the other two classes I've mentioned.

I can confirm that The Tramp was in Brighton last night. He came to our class in Portslade with Zara

With Connie visiting soon it seems that Brighton is currently the place to be

Re: Where to dance around Brighton

I've just heard that there a new night being launched next Friday, it sounds pretty cool but I don't know anything about it (or who the organisers are), apart from what's on this website

I like the chilled look of the room. although, it did cross my mind, 'us' dancers always manage to ruin the look of any seating area, with all our bags and stuff!

It's being run by a guy who comes to our classes. His name is Warren, he used to dance in the London area, has moved to Brighton, appears at many weekenders and usally wears a hat. He's quite a cool dude and does many different dances.

This night is for all dancers, not just MJ. I get the impression it's really late-night as the finish time is 3am - ish!

I'm going and I know lots of others are. I like the idea of one night for mixed partner-dancers, and I imagine the music will be good.
