You should be proud of yourself too DTS.. for being such a good influence. And there's nothing wrong with being
a scruffy hard working manual skilled worker

Today in work, the young fella who works for me told me an interesting story which brought tears to my eyes, tears of pride no less!!!
Now Liam is 22 and a bit of a lad, he has worked with me on and off for nearly 2 years. His girlfriend is pregnant and they are just about to move in together and will shortly get married.
Saturday morning they were both at Sandy train station waiting for the train to Biggleswade and on the concourse was a blind and deaf lady with a sign saying "I am blind and deaf can someone please help me onto the train i want to get to Finsbury Park. If you can help please tap me on the arm."
Liam immediatley tapped the lady on the arm and she said "will you help me on the train?" He said yes and then squeezed her on the arm, whereupon she thanked him.
The train pulled in and everyone on the concourse watched Liam helping the lady on and nobody else helped in any way at all. Having found her a seat. She said ok thanks and then brought out another sign to deal with her journey from Finsbury Park.
Liam and his heavily pregnant girlfriend detrained at Biggleswade and his girlfriend said to him " I am really proud of you, out of all of those dozens of people at the station you was the only one to assist that lady. Why did you do it?"
Liam replied "if Dave was here he would have done it."
If i have achieved anything in my life I have made a man out of Liam.
He may, like me, be a scruffy hard working manual skilled worker, but he is a man.
And for that i am very proud of him today.

What's the betting the poor lady is still sitting on that train waiting for someone to help her get off though.
well done DTS, sometimes you are like a fun uncle to me because your full of good advice and your kind and a fun loving guy! very proud of you! Liam is a charming man all because of your good influence!!!!
its whats inside that counts Dave
anyone can put a £500 suit on but it don't make 'em a class act.
Some people can wear a dress for £2.99 and look a million dollors, true beauty will shine through.
I'm proud to say your in my group of friends, you are someone I would come to if I needed help, and i'm sure Liam is the same.
Your a good man
Good grief. SOMEBODY PASS ME THE BUCKET.
Good for DTS's colleague for being so helpful - but don't the Railways folk have arrangements to help people who have disabilities of this sort?
In this day and age people shouldn't need to tie signs to themselves, and if they did, surely someone official ought to read it and act on it.
Love dance, will travel
