On the Gold Coast (yummy weather) - get out the swimming cossies and put the air conditioning on.

As a guide it takes 6 hours to fly from Sydney (on the East coast) to Perth (on the West coast)... and several days by car . [equivalent of you travelling to Turkey or Morocco]
There's actually a fair bit of skiing goes on in Australia. NSW can get a fair bit of snow in places but as Martin says, the country is vast and the weather very variable depending on which part of the continent your on!

The first time I visited Uluru and the Olgas it snowed - it was absolutely freezing!

You haven't mentioned the other nasty animals in the sea:
    stingrays,
    crocodiles,
    sea snakes
    and stingers (nasty jellyfish)

And on land, you've got lots of poisonous spiders (redbacks etc.), and plenty of poisonous snakes. The top ten most poisonous snakes in the world all live in Australia, including the Common Brown at number 3 on the list. If a "common" snake is the third most deadly in the world, it can't be that nice a place to live?

Enough about Melbourne - The Gold Coast rocks
Was down there last weekend - had a lovely swim in the sea

I take it you didn't encounter any sharks whilst swimming

By the way sharks aren't nasty and they're certainly not animals they're fish!!

I hope we get a decent dumping on the parks in Glasgow this winter. It'd be great to do a spot of "urban snowboarding"!

Yes - fish are definitely animals. Everybody knows that fish have fingers, and hence they must be animals. Therefore I'm very afraid of Crazy Shark

Afraid of moi........im not scary, im gentle as im in my pic (im the one in the white top) and in real life

For the record yes they (fish) are animals. I've only just realised what i've written in a post above about sharks not being animals.........i think i was being distracted when i wrote that its a typo!!! Anyways sharks are fish, i should know my own species

Back on the topic of snow.........there was some very light snow this morning whoop whoop!!! Then it melted
