Every few days I'll run a search with my name, just to find out if I've been missing on any interesting stuff (hence why I type my name ), and I'll usually find half a dozen of posts by Andy McG, saying how wrong I am, or how much he prefers Connie to me (poor Danish soul - may be he thinks he'll get more success with foreign girls, s'ppose he's hoping something might happen on a misunderstanding*...), in numerous threads and various topics.

Now I really, really wonder (so hard my brains hurt)... who's obsessed with who ?

I'm not the one who does searches every few days to find posts by the object of their desire. I've simply noticed that Caro disagrees with me, but she does it in such a nice way it's obvious that she fancies me. In fact, most of the time she actually seems to agree with me, just in a disagreeable way On the other hand, Connie never disagrees with me and that makes her much more attractive - of course Connie wouldn't even know me in the street

But I am grateful to Caro for telling me that Connie is Danish. I'm particularly successful with foreign girls. My wife is English*

*Note to Connie. Having a wife doesn't stop me having a crush on you It might stop me doing anything about it - but there's always a first time (if there was a first time it'd be unlikely that there'd be a repeat performance once Sue, lady with the sharp instruments , found out there was a first time )

That's an, um, interesting thing to do.

I'm not tempted to put "Caro" into every single post from now on, honest.

Connie, Andy had a crush on me once too... here's what you can look forward to, when he knocks round your chalet!

Take note, always check out the window BEFORE you risk opening the door!

Well I don't read all the threads (in fact sometimes I only follow a couple of threads and ignore the rest), so it's a quick way to find out if my input is 'requested' somewhere else.

I still have a crush on Lory and it's still advisable for her to check before opening that door

However, Connie is my lastest love

The question this raises is "do I need to check for Caro outside my chalet door?"

If it is advertised as a MJ weekend, lets have a range of quality MJ classes, with an offering of other styles.

Not a range of other styles, with an offering of MJ.

    My thoughts exactly.

Nothing wrong with it, but the majority of people dance MJ.

If there was a dedicated WCS room, it would also have frustrated me, if WCS was also being played in the Swing and Blues room.

I like slow music and I like challenging music, if there were 3 rooms, 10 years ago, they could have put swing in one, blues in the other, and had the main hall doing main-stream... Which would have been great for me as I could have gone from blues room to main hall.

I never did see the tie up with Blues and Swing... Often I would go in the Blues room, to chill and dance slow and have a 1 hour set of Swing .

I could see more point in matching fast WCS and Swing in one room... Blues and slow WCS in the other room. (if anyone undertands what I am on about and I have not controdicted myself too much!)

I'm probably going to say the wrong this here but pure Modern jive just doesn't seem to have the Wow factor for cabarets, that some of the other dance styles have.. i.e. WCS, Tango, Ballroom & Latin and Lindy

Andy, if you could choose any couple to showcase pure MJ, who would you choose?

And secondly, are there any celebrity status dancers who do Modern Jive?
I suggest that if you think that is true you should look up the caberets performed at the Australian Champs over the past few years,
    In Particular,
    Barbie Doll...James and Dayna,
    Hero...........Hamish and Deanna,
Also the two who placed first and second at this years CA champs,
whose results I cannot get due to Aussie forum dieing ,
now I will agree that the headline WCS acts are awe inspiring, but remember the difference between professional, (i.e practice time, choreo etc) and amateur (squeezed round work etc), IMHO these amateur routines were as good .
I watched a world class Salsa routine at the same champs and IMHO the winning MJ showcase was as good,

The room that was usually the Swing & Blues room had become the Swing, Blues and WCS room: that was in addition to the dedicated WCS room.

And, the headline stars at Jive Addiction weekenders are not Modern Jivers, being from the worlds of WCS (again) and ballroom.

It's nice to try out other dances at weekenders. However, it should be possible to identify it as a MJ weekender by studying the teacher line-up and freestyle options on offer. If you looked at the timetable for many of the recent MJ weekenders you might think it was a WCS weekender where people could try out many other dances, including Modern Jive

I know WCS is becoming popular. And I know that most of the people who are taking up WCS are being drawn from the world of MJ. But that doesn't mean that we should be giving up on Modern Jive - it means that the world of WCS should be supporting MJ as a source of future dancers. And support doesn't include playing slow, WCS music to an audience of MJ dancers who'd like swing & blues music - especially when there's a perfectly good WCS room next door
I can't believe that the above quote/post is dated November 2007

I was ahead of my time

It seems longer ago that Franco was running MJ events at Camber - so much has changed. Mostly for the better

I think that the people who love WCS have done exactly the right thing and set up their own nights. This means they don't have to act like a cuckoo and lay their WCS eggs in the MJ nest.

I think that weekender organisers saw the growth of WCS and thought it would increase their numbers at MJ events.

I think that WCS is a great dance and something for people to try when they've been dancing MJ for a while and don't feel like they're getting anything new from MJ. I'm quite satisfied with MJ but I'm not everyone and can see that some of my MJ customers would like to try WCS - so I'm looking for a Brighton/M23 venue for Paul Farrell to teach a class - and I might even learn WCS myself
