That would sell something to me.
If you are looking to apeal to an age group, ask that age group what apeals.

I asked my son who is 18, he is with you Jamie and likes your wording above... Trendy to him also meant.... old people trying hard to be young...

    Re: Trendy...

come on guys.. hip? trendy? Groovy? That reminds me of the sad guy in Only Fools and horses, he was only in one episode, the one where delboy enters a painting of rodneys into a competition and then it turns out rodney wins but its a teen holiday, so rodney has to pretend hes 14 and the sad guy says "you are now part of the groovy gang!"

I have never once used the word hip! I use awesome, fab, wicked and koolbeans, (the last one is strictly a teen word lol)

Seriously guys, if you want to impress the young ones with your "cool" rep, dont go overboard with the sayings, my teacher Mr Lewis did just the other day, he started rapping. We were not impressed!

Ahh but then again, 'my' dad (who's almost 72) also made up a rap, which was both clever and hysterically funny!

My kids who're 20 and 16, were so genuinely impressed, they filmed it on their phones and couldn't wait to show all their mates!

I suppose it come's down to whether its done with humour or 'really trying' to be cool!

    What about Rad or Radical.

I bloody hate that word & it reminds me of some sad old numpty I knew when I was a teenager who tried too hard to mix with me and my mates.

Hate the word trendy too. Can’t help think that if something/someone refers to themselves as trendy, it tends to mean the opposite.

Interestingly, apart from the use of the word “mates”, I’d say that Jamie’s suggestion was pretty good, and would appeal to a wide age group.

Trouble with any sort of slang is it’s going to date pretty quickly, and then look/sound, well, awful.

Heres a suggestion we all stop using the word "trendy" because we're not living in the 60's

The point is that you remembered it...

Is that not a sign of a good teacher?

    Re: Trendy...

As I dimly remember it, as a youngster all of my mates were trying too hard to be "grown-up". Smoking, drinking and having sex all being high on the agenda of some, behaving like a responsible adult for a few others. It looks to me like the agenda is the same today. I see them trying to imitate their adult role models.

I would not try and invade the young world, but rather present dance as a bridge to adult childish fun. The kids I know still use the word "fun".

    Re: Trendy...

Trendy used to feature on ceroc advertising. May still do?

    Very toe curling.

Puts me in mind of a bloke dancing with lots of facial hair, in a striped wooly jumper and flared crimpoline trousers.

    Any one remember crimpoline?

Ceroc has made it onto Urban Dictionary - Urban Dictionary: ceroc

Quite an apt description as well?
