Can't help you with dance feedback - was at a fireworks display myself in wonderfully warm & clear weather.
I went to an event last night that was definitely under-attended compared to normal (about 40%).The chief suspect was the competition from firework displays. Other forumites experiences?

I suspected the Bedford Mariachi night suffered a little because of this - as well as other events going on all over the place. Plenty of room for dancing, but not so good for the organisers. Good night though!
Ah... but because it was quieter it meant that CJ played more slower tracks. It was definitely more chilled than the previous Mariachi. I personally preferred the "party atmosphere" of the previous one, but I did have a nice time with the slower stuff too. I think it was quieter due to the other events, rather than the fireworks. There were quite a few Mariachi regulars in Blackpool.
I ask the question, I answer the question.
Fireworks allegedly had little to di with it. There was at least one large MJ party on that night in the vicinity and that, plus other freestyles in the area the night beofore, and the missing "gone norf" for the weekend all probably contributed more.
I was sorry the Mariachi night suffered too. If circumstances had been different that would have been my venue of choice.
