Blaze III - What can be done better?

In terms of the dancing, teachers and organisation; I don't think there's much more could be done to improve , but....

Thinking on improvements for the next Blaze and I have a couple of ideas...
    • Catering: Since there has been a few mentions on the cullenary delights on offer, I think that there is room for a couple of services for those that are flying up or really can't be bothered bringing food or cooking (or eating in the resteraunt) -

      • Cooks for hire - if you want your meal cooked in your caravan for you where you can decide the menu before-hand.

      • Shopping delivered - if you want to cook yourself but need ingredients.

      • Running Buffet - If you want to chip in at lunch time, there could be sandwiches and assorted savoury nibbles (and perhaps cake ) to munch down on while the music was playing.

    • Pampering: there are already a few pampering services available, but it's sometimes nice to have things done for you...
      • Haircuts - Dazzler is a hairdresser by trade and has assured me that he will be offering his services with a bit more advertising next time - he'll call to your caravan and cut/style/colour as you require.

      • Makeup - Some people just don't like putting it on, others are really good at it; feel more glamerous when you look more glamerous.

      • Massage - There are dedicated massage rooms where you can lie flat out and get the full works, but there are some relaxation and releif therapies that could be given in your own caravan.
It would also be nice to have a bio on each of the therapists/therapies to let you know which will suit your needs better.

      • Physio - A few times, more than massage is needed to get the kinks out and the maseurs recommend you on to a physiotherapist; some advice on posture, excercises and a couple of joint clunks would help.

    • Sack The DJ: no-one knew where it was, no-one knew who/what was playing, it was used for filming the DVD and it was compact. (enough that you could have no more than about ten couples dancing at once) I liked it , but to improve I think that these things could be looked at.

      • Location - It was an OK location, down side was that you had to go outside... and my map got blown away. It felt like it was shoved away in a corner somewhere to be forgotten about. I don't really think that there are any other solutions to it's location other than to make it more obvious and have better directions. (Not sure if it was better in the other area {at Blaze I) or not... certainly no muggles spectating.)

      • Guest-list - I think that some form of pre-booking of some slots would work; most people playing have pre-chosen tracks or a selection to play from. Advertising who is playing when and how it clashes with the workshops would be nice.

All these things are peripheral to the actual "dance" event and would require a bit of organising that I think is above and beyond the 'regular' stuff (ie sorting the accomodation, floor, rooms, lighting, water, sound, check-in, teachers, crew, stage, site leason, private lessons, blow up chairs, ...etc.) So I think that a seperate person would be better dedicated to the organising of all this. (Who of course reports to the boss man himself )

I've not fully though out all of these; if there is little/no interest in any of them, then there is little/no point in developing the idea Can anyone think on anything else they would like or service they could provide?

Thought on something else: literature and advertising (as per a busk) for any muggles that wander about and look curious. Handy to have on the door.

Re: Blaze III - What can be done better?

I might be the only one here, but I really suffered from the hardness of the floors - this does a lot of damage on your joints (when a floor is too hard, I feel it after just a couple of dances in my feet and knees).
So temporary flooring over the existing flooring (which is too sticky anyway, at least the first 2 days - for some reason it became very slippy on sunday) would be good AFAIC.

    Then the 2 am finish.

Then the boudoir - totally missed it this time. Not a big deal as in the afternoons I did all the WCS classes anyway.

I think that's it for me really...

if people are genuinely interested in this then i could speak to franck and look into professional liability insurance for next time. i know that on weekenders i often end up sorting out quite a few aches and pains anyway so it wouldnt be a real problem. and this was mentioned to me at blaze and previously by several differnet people.

pm me if you think this is a goer and i could talk to people and maybe share a slot or something.

i would say a later finish but to be honest i liked the 2 am finish it meant i got to do lots of after party socialising.

Maybe finish at 4 might be a good idea. Not to early but still plenty of time for waffles and group cuddles

I know it was requested this time and the venue let Franck down, but it would be great to avoid spending an hour emptying then cleaning a room and moving ceiling tiles, disinfecting shower/sink etc before being able to set the room up.

(and a kinesiologist can sort similar things to a physio, just in a different way).

completely agree with this for many things and there are somethings better dealth with by a physio and some things better dealth with through kinesiology.

its another service and may be beneficial for some people!

That's another thing that would be good to have: literature to outline what each 'level' of massage, aromatherapy, kineticphisiology or whatever is ... and what it can be good for.

I did my best - if I send you a copy of what I prepared would you give me some feedback as to what you'd like/prefer to be reading about?

DJ - I was trying to keep it as clean and inendo free as I could... but when speaking about massage, some things just slip out
