    Re: Dance Accidents

Thanks all for your concern. Indeed my nose was broken at Rebel Yell. I was dancing with one of my favourite dancers - who is one of the most careful and considerate dancers on the scene. I was leading him in WCS. As he did a free spin he raised his arms in the air (like women like to do in salsa for styling) and unfortunately I got one of his elbows in my nose. It went crack but didn't bleed at the time.
It was incredibly painful, I ended up with pretty nasty bruising and swelling and a middle of the night trip to A&E ... and I had to have it put straight under general anaesthetic yesterday so it has been a bit of an ordeal to say the least.
HOWEVER ... accidents happen .. I would NEVER apportion blame either to the person involved or to the venue. I think you have to acknowledge that with any activity that is so physical sometimes these things will happen. Really, if something like an injury could stop you from earning etc then you should get accident and sickness insurance.
The guy who was involved doesn't know my nose got broken (he doesn't come on the forum) I'd appreciate it if people didn't say anything to him!!
Funny thing is that the broken nose wasn't the worst thing about my evening ... a room full of WCS dancers already ruined it!!!
No dancing for me until after Christmas (to give my nose the chance to heal) .. so see you all in the New Year.

I hope it heals up nicely. Get well soon Suzy.

(I was hit in the nose whilst dancing too, it made my eyes water. So I can't imagine how painful a broken nose is).
