Ach! Shuddup Smurfy! Let him criticise DJ's grammar if he wants to.

He can try, but DS has answered reasonably well, for a Smurf at least.

Similarly, one could use "How Evil is Microsoft?" or "How evil are Microsoft?" - in that a company can be seen as a singular or a plural entity, depending on the context.

Combined with the clear potential for ambiguity between the company and the (false, but commonly-believed) "Ceroc dance" style if used as the singular, the plural was the obvious choice.

    Or, in other words

Most of today's kids wouldn't know what a collective noun is and by your response you may well be one of them or you've not grown up, you've just grown taller.

Grammar is as important as punctuation, it's the only way we can communicate effectively using the written word, HAVE instead of HAS, ARE instead of IS, just as the omission of a simple comma, can dramatically alter the meaning of a sentence.

You may think of it as pedantry or unimportant, I think of it simply as being correct.

I reckon you should've had a semi-colon before HAVE as I didn't realise it was a list until I'd already started perusing it. It confused me greatly and, heavens above, I've come over all quaint.

I agree with all this - heck, I could have written it. Although obviously I'd have avoided the caps and put some punctuation in.

But communication in English is more malleable than in other languages - meaning is the key, more than grammar rules which are often more like guidelines.

Anyway, Ceroc? Evil? Come on children, I see very little signs of venom here.

Re: How Evil are Ceroc? (no dance content)

    Why is Ceroc evil?

Ceroc has introduced thousands of people to dance.

    I personally applaud them.

Where Ceroc falls down in my opinion is in the advanced lessons, ie there are none!!!!!!!!!

    XXX XXX DTS Dave

Oh and by the way get off all of this punctuation nonsense, so who cares if some people cannot use punctuation properly and are bad spellers, it is not the end of the world you know.

Ok i'll take your word, i'll see how far i'll get in 10 years time

Out of curiousity are you one of those people who when talking to face to face you just tell the other person about your life story? Or perhaps how you became evil in this case?

My boss does that, he tells me about his life story and he's only 50!! No wonder he always puts me on same lunch time as him!!

Basically when you're talking to somebody do you tell them about your life story? Like my boss does!! I've heard his life story so many times.

    Is that clearer?

that was maybe true in the past - but they do do weekenders with advanced classes now.
