    dubious criminals

It's sometimes surprising just how stupid some criminals can be.

    See here.

Its the story of some idiots (for want of a more expansive word) who tried to get the Bank of England to pay them face value for notes they made up.

The notes they were "exchanging" were worth the equivalent of two thirds of ALL pounds sterling in circulation in the world.

They had two different types of note. One, a £1000, note - was a real note that was withdrawn in 1943 and only 63 of them are unaccounted for. They had "thousands" of them.

The other note was a £500,000 note - not sure how many they had made of those, but they never existed in the first place so they were never onto a winner there.

    er...nice try

Here's a good example of why you shouldn't try to get tech support for stolen equipment - especially when it's specialist equipment used only by the government.

I've heard a similar tale of someone stealing an iPhone from an Apple store, and going back the next day to ask for help in making it work.

Isn't it quaint the way the report refers to the toe-rag as "33 year old Missouri resident...", as if the report was about his cat getting stuck up a tree!

Wonderful examples.... while we're on a roll, here's another:

An example of why, if you're into printing counterfeit money, you should try clearing paper jams yourself before sending your printer in for repair...
