Now the young, 22 years old, fella that works for me cant drive so we came up with a plan to get the lorry in the workshop and then get back home.

We loaded 2 x mountain bikes on the lorry and cycled back from the garage.

All seemed like a good plan until we clocked the mileage on the lorry as 12 miles from garage to home, no problem we thought, piece of p*ss.

Anyway having just got back in from a 12 mile cycle ride...I can hardly walk, my a*se is like a lump of concrete and my legs are like 2 pieces of wood.

Is it me or am i getting older and fatter and unfit.

Have any of you had a wake up call trying to do something you could do standing on your head a couple of years ago?

They do say that its the recovery rate that shows how fit you are....

I will be right as rain by Xmas 2010.

Its nothing to do with your age probably because you maybe unfit thats all. I know i wouldn't be able to do what you did because im totally unfit!!

You have to do ALL THREE in the 24 hours. Start at the base of Ben Nevis, and be back in the Scarfell car park within the time.

It's you, you're getting older and fatter and unfit.

Seriously though, it all depends what your body is used too. Four years ago I cycled from Land's End to John O'Groats. Could I do it today? NO WAY. Now I can dance all night. Couldn't do that three years ago.

Rubbish! You must be about 15 years younger than me and I climbed Jebel Toubkal in Morocco last year (that's 13,671ft [4,167m] as opposed to Ben Nevis' 4,409ft [1,344m]).

That's the answer. Get Dave to do all your fetching and carrying (if he's not already). That'll keep him fit.

Consider yourself told !! All the UK peaks are relatively easy, they have paths most of the way up. Gentle stroll for someone of your age, I'm 15 years older than you (Boy does that make me feel old)
