    1. DJ's. This is always my first consideration.
    2. The end time. The later the better. If it's midnight and I am travelling a long way then it really isn't worth it .
    3. The other dancers.
    4. Travel time. It needs to be VERY good for me to endure over an hours car journey each way!
    5. Ventilation. Not as important for me as I often don't wear much.

Left this for a while, been thinking about it... I see venue as, the whole evening, a place to dance does nothing, until you hire it and make it work.

    1) Some "top" dancers I really enjoy dancing with.

    2) a good intake of beginners, who I can encorage and dance with.

    3) a friendly atmosphere.

    4) "good music" - a variety.

    5) Lots of air con, fans and all the rest.

Things I do not worry about...

The floor, I will dance on carpet, tiles or whatever, the only difference is the shoes you wear.

The lesson, could be a bad lesson, as long as a lot of freestyle and the 5 points above, all good.

Stokey, who irons these 25 shirts, I hope it's not poor Twirlie Bird?

How many shirts do you normally pack for a weekender?

    How many for a freestyle?

I once got a heat rash from dancing with no ventilation - the AC was not working.

If a venue has AC and no natural ventilation, should it be allowed to open if the AC is out of order?

    In no particular order...
    • Location - somewhere I can practically get to.
    • Time - if it's on a night I'm free (I particularly like Wednesdays... it gets me over the hump).
    • Floor - both large enough for the numbers there and the quality of the floor.
    • Space - I hate a packed venue: large numbers packed into a small space tend to makes a venue less attractive. Ventilation also comes into play here.
    • Dancers - how good are the other dancers there and (probably as importantly) do I know anyone who will be there.
These are all trade-offs: I'll travel further to get to a place with good dancers and a good floor. If I'm free, I might just go to the closest venue to have a night out.

Umm.. 26 it seems.... I wore my last clean one whilst sitting in the Laundery on Sunday.... all that time I was washing and drying shirts I was missing the dancing

I dunno... I take a hold all with my 'must haves' in. The middle bit is for my shirts, I guess I have a dozen in there.... but only because that's how many fills it, not because that's how many I need.. if you see what I mean I also take a couple of spare towels too. I was able to lend one (clean, dry and unused) to a guy at Daventry who had forgotten his and was suffering from the heat in the blues room. So a few things spare is always a good plan.

I hate it when you go somewhere and they haven't even bothered to bring some fans! At Utopia in Derby last time it was horrible; a warm summer's evening too. No fans and no breeze even though a couple of us opened the fire exits. It really is inexcusably bad form on the part of the organiser and they should be fuxing ashamed of themselves

I go for 3 spares and a can of deoderant for a normal lesson night. Not always needed, but good to have.

For weekenders well, as many as will fit in the suitcase...
