I made a similar distinction/question in a poll, earlier, including A, V, and H:

I am sharing my classification, for comment. The letters roughly mimic the connection.
"A" Blues is how I would classify the style that came through the Foxtrot Swing path, where the close hold is bosom to chest.
"V" Blues is what I call the N&N style, where the connection is via the inner thigh. "Grind" -ish.
"H" Blues is the more open "slow MJ" blues style, suitable for a class who are not all comfortable with UCP.
All three styles can be used in one dance, but most seem to use an AH or an VH mix.
