    This article gives Michael Fish's advice on where to go for winter sun. Going by what he says, it sounds as if you might be a bit stretched to find anywhere within 2 1/2 hours flying time from the UK; the Canaries are 4 1/4 hours from Bristol according to my booking for 1st December!

    I haven't read the whole thread so forgive me is someone has already posted something similar.
