a day or less
a couple of days
a few days
a week or more
no time limit - its not a big deal
After reading ...this article where some respondents to a survey would miss the internet before they would miss sex - i felt i had to create a poll
only 18% could last a week...nah!!! surely not.Survey respondents were asked how long they could go without an Internet connection and still feel "OK."
15 percent of the group admitted to being weak-willed and said that they would only be able to last a day or less without feeling isolated and disconnected from the world.
21 percent didn't do much better, saying they could only go a couple of days
19 percent saying they could go "a few days."
Only about 18 percent of the group said that they could go a week or more without being connected
so how long could you last ?
I suspect that for some of them, the internet is the closest that they get to sex anyway
Absolute madness.
I use the internet to find work and to run my business and to do so without the internet would put me at a serious disadvantage to the competition, however, I could cope without using it for anything else, just as I could cope without it altogether if there was no internet available for my competition.
The forum, facebook other sites are very addictive, but if I can't go on there it won't hurt, honest.
It depends entirely on the circumstances – I can go on holiday abroad away from my computer and not miss the 'net. I don't think I could hang around the house for more than a couple of hours before I had to go and check my email or similar.
Of course, now I'm buying an iPod touch and can take the internet with me, things may be a little different...

Good question!
OK - I'm game. I'll try it, starting n
I've only had a pooter for about a year, I managed fine without it before.
I wish someone would take mine away from me...I might get some housework done then.
I rarely log on at weekends or evening unless I've got something specific to do.
However take it away from me at work, and I'd go stark staring mad... my job tends to be either very busy or nothing to do, and most of my work is dictated by other people's requirements, so I have not control over when work comes in, and can't create work for myself. Mind you, I might have written that novel by now...
I don't have one, and I use the one at work and that is enough for me as I hate to be stuck on one in the evenings, I had a pc till it broke and have never replaced it, so I am not addicted to it.
I don't need the internet..*cough* I could log off any time I wanted. *sniffs* I mean it's purely recreational use : *hugs self* i could give up any time I like I just decide not to. I don't "NEED" it.. *scratches head nervously*
As Twirly will confirm, I get a little "stir crazy" if I'm disconnected from the "Wide wide wide world of web" for too long.
Exhibit A - driving along the roads in Cornwall.. Lovely scenery. And me? Downloading my emails on my mobile.
Exhibit B - trying very hard to get the "supposed" free Wifi connection in the cottage to work.
Exhibit C - Was just into Twirly's flat. after a long days drive.. we were both tired and Twirly had to stop me from plugging in my laptop there and then to connect.
To reference a movie (and not a very good one at that) I'm like the Lawnmower man from Lawnmower Man 2.. half of me exists in the real world... and the other half online I'm not complete unless I'm connected lol
I agree with you Twirly... except I would go much further - I hate logging on during weekends or evenings - my job is all internet based and as mine is mainly at the beck and call of other people's deadlines I either drown in work or I am all over the forum.. Here is the explanation for my abscence from the forum over the last month or so as we prepared and recovered from our biggest deadline / event of my work's year... I hope it will tail off soon, and I can return to my forum mooching fullish time

PS There are far too many books unread, dances undanced and movies unwatched in the world for me to be online all the time!
Give me a good dance partner, some lighter than air music, and unlimited time - and you probably wouldn't see me in here at all (well not quite - but very very nearly!)
I have gone for a few days on the poll, coz I do internet banking and that is a major part of my business, shifting cash from one pot to another.
e-mail is now also a part of my business for info and contact instead of letters "has to be checked at least once a week... ish".
I started on the internet in 1991, when it was far less useful than it is today.
anyone remember "Janet"
I am still happy to wait a bit, I sometimes do not have my mobile on me, and then check once a day, or maybe every 2 days... I still leave letters for maybe 2 weeks before I open them... (much to my sons frustration, he sais, why don't you 'king open them)
So I can go for a while, but if no internet, I would need to visit the bank more often, and check my phone messages more often.
