    Peter Kaye....Phoenix Nights...Funny or what?

Now then now then now then, Phoenix Nights is back on ch4.

I told Trouble to watch it last night, and she nearly died from laughing.

Whats your favourite comedies, or funny moments etc etc etc .

    Anything goes.

    xxx xxx DTS Dave.

If you like that you should try to get hold of That Peter Kay Thing. He did a lot of little episodes of different ideas (the ice cream man one is hilarious). They are very much in the Pheonix Nights mould, but each episode is an individual little tale - I think one may have been the pilot for Pheonix Nights thinking about it!

    Top drawer humour though

I remember converting a South African housemate to Phoenix Nights - the first episode he didn't quite get, but then he got hooked!!!

I've just started smiling & remembering quite how good it is - such as converting a porta-loo into a kiddies playroom (with "fruity chews" from a dispenser on the wall), and with Ray Von's face permanently face painted!

Other comedies I've enjoyed include Father Ted and Coupling.

I LOVE Phoenix Nights - a classic comedy. My favourite episode is the Stars in Your Eyes one - hilarious. So many quotes from that one - highlights have gotta be Meatloaf turning up on the bike and the "But how, how will you know?" "Just drive over him!" "I'm gonna!" scene.

I've said it elsewhere, but as you ask, my current favourite is Lewis Black. Lots of his stuff on youtube.

His delivery is outstanding, and he finds comedy in the weirdest places.

"When I was a kid, there was only one kind of milk - moocow f*ck milk.

Nowadays, the milk counter is a mile long - this milk, that milk - hey they have lactose intolerant milk.

YOU CAN'T HAVE MILK IF YOU'RE LACTOSE INTOLERANT!! You can't, you just can't. That's what lactose means, 'milk'.

...so what the f*ck is in that carton?"

I hate to say it.. I don't like Phoenix Nights. or that spin off series "matt and paddy something something"

I did LOVE father Ted. Mrs Doyle getting down off the window sill after hanging the decorations, Father Ted cheering up a suicidal priest by playing the theme from Shaft and Father Jack ... "What would you say to a nice cup of tea father jack?" "Feck off cup!!"

Being Galloway irish and from a small villiage a lot of it seemed all too familiar

At the moment I love the IT crowd.. when I remember to watch it that is.

My friend was playing ‘bingo’ last night and there was a **** up with the National tickets with coming and going

Had the picture (sorry friend did) that he would say something along the lines that there will be a bloody riot in here soon and why have we not got enough dabbers !

    Great series

    Chopped

Play have the series in their play trade section for £9-£12 from new to used condition or Amazon has it new for £16

    The choice is yours!

The Office was on around the same time as Phoenix Nights IIRC and it was often billed as Kaye vs Gervais. Personally I find both series to be enduringly funny albeit for differing reasons.

DTS, what happened to you leaving the forum then, eh?

I love Father Ted and have seen every episode several times. The 'escape from the lingerie dept', Bohemian Rhapsody in the Ailwee Caves, "I put the rabbits in the last place he'd look - his room", milk float 'Speed', "that money was only resting in my account!"

Classic, I could watch them all again
