I love walking from Ainsdale Station to Pontin's if the weather is nice. It's nice to go to the lake (or is it a river??) over the road and feed the ducks before the check-in opens.
I would definitely recommend a case with wheels! I also take a flight bag/dance bag that I can rest on my case as I pull it behind me. I've done that walk now 14 times (once we got a hire car from the airport), I don't think its actually rained on me yet, tomorrow could change that though!
Its not far, or long, and with company, chat and the prospect of arriving at the venue soon, its fine.

You've probably gone already, but if you're changing in wigan, look out for me and the big, green, mean machine! (err..it's a rather odd looking bicyle!) It's likely to be parked up at the bike shop between the two stations!
