I have a pair of shorts in a karki green, i have never worn them as i don't feel the colour suits me could anyone tell me if i could dye them black? and which dye to buy?.
100% cotton
I'd use cold water dye - you know, those little pots/boxes of Dylon they sell in hardware shops. It should go black nicely. The only problem might be with the stitching and fastenings, depending on whether they're polyester, they might stay the same colour as now. You never know until you try...
Thats great as my friend gave me some Dylon but she wasn't sure if it was the right stuff will give it a go later
Right rubber gloves, weighing scales and cold water at the ready will have to do it naked in case i get it on my clothes
Don't use a washing machine one!!! Awful to try and get out of the machine afterwards
Ok an hour has passed... The result
washed the shorts in cold water for ages and then in hot water as advised, the shorts are now on the line looking really great took my gloves off and......... both my hands and arms are black have to work on the door tonight so have scrubbed them til they bled even soaked them in bleach got most of it off but have black nails
Thanks Lou for all your help you are a star
No probs. Glad they turned out OK. I'm quite practiced at dyeing things black. Also it's good to use my Fashion & Textiles A Level...
BTW... I was going to suggest the bleach thing. I used to spray bathroom cleaner on my hands & quickly wash it off.
Yes. I hope DJ was happy. I think it was worthy. It was short. It was nice. It had smilies. It did not have multiple exclamation marks!!! It didn't mention hwmnbn. If not, I suppose I'll see my tagline changed to "Dark Princess of the Geeks" or some such nonsense.
