Thanks guys for all your kind words of Congratulations! I haven't been to sleep yet since leaving New York on Wednesday night so I'm struggling to stay awake, I'll post in more detail on my US adventure when I've had some sleep!

    Re: Double wins-congrats to Crossa!

Had some sleep and some dances at the Scottish Champs well done to everyone!

My American adventure started on the 16th August when I headed to Chicago for the Chicagolands Dance Festival, although a UCWDC event it has a reputation as the most West Coast Swing friendly event on the Country scene and it didn’t disappoint with amazing local talent and top teachers including Mario Robau, Robert and Deborah, Christopher Hussey and Katrina Branson, Mike Topel and top Country couple Sam and Denise Miller.
The hotel was a complimentary shuttle ride from the airport but was a 45 minute train ride to downtown Chicago, so we only made into the city for an afternoon.
The dancing and competition was of a very high standard, as for me, lack of practice (my partner and I hadn’t danced together since March) and some bad habits developed dancing in the UK meant a poor result in the Strictly swing and J&J, but it was all good as I was there to learn.

The following weekend I made it to Framingham and the “Summer Hummer” a purely WCS event, a plethora of top stars, dancers form the Boston Area, New York, Montreal and a few from Scotland and England!! I went to an intensive with Jordan & Tatiana, a critique class where everyone received individual feedback! Not bad for $20!
I made it to the final of the Newcomer J&J, a good result, however some advice for anyone thinking of competing to progress through the WSDC divisions, skip the newcomer and go straight for Novice, points are only tracked for Novice, Intermediate and Advanced, I quote:

“The WSDC records points for: Juniors, Newcomer, Masters, All Star, and Champion/Pro/Invitational but do not necessarily consider them a "level of dance". These divisions are recorded but do not require points to move into them (normally). We track points for: Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced. Points will be tracked based on the tiers below determined by number of competitors and used to decide appropriate divisions or to move up.”

The final weekend and I rolled in to Nashville for the Music City Country Dance Challenge hosted in the downtown Renaissance Hotel, a great location for visitors’ only minutes walk from Main St. and the Honky Tonk bars with live music playing from midday to beyond midnight.
Robert and Nicola Royston were the big attractions for me, however filming commitments meant they had to cancel, but I made up for it by having a private with Susan Kirklin and sitting in on Cathy’s private lessons with Sam Miller and Gary Macintyre…awesome!!
Sam Miller is known as the “King of Connection” his teaching of connection was beyond anything I’ve heard before.
As for my success, well I was blessed with talented partners who could have danced with a tailor’s dummy and made it look good:
Susan Kirklin 2 times US Open winner and now partnering Gary Macintyre as they take on the new challenge of American Smooth,
and Bloomer Blues aka Cathy who is recognised as a prodigious rising talent, she won every category she entered:

Pro-Am Open Newcomer Overall (All eight country dances)
    Pro-Am Newcomer Hustle
    Pro-Am Novice Swing
    Novice Strictly Swing
    J&J Novice 2-Step
    J&J Novice WCS

A fantastic result for Bloomer Blues and an awesome trip for me!
