Certainly, if the music isn't too fast or loud, I can dance and chat at same time, but for the best dance from me, I prefer just to sing.
I do like to sing along too... even tho I usually end up torturing my fellow dancer with my out of tune voice at least I am having fun

I need to go through the pain barrier, keep my mouth shut, and concentrate in order to have fun again

    Re: Talking & Dancing

I tend to shut up more if I know my partner. If I haven't seen them for a while then I might ask what they were doing in the meantime, or where they were, but I will try and shut up most of the time.

Blues a time to chat??? Get on with you, you are kidding aren't you?? This is the easiest way to shut me up if I am being chatty.. And unlike Gadget's trick there is no need for complicated moves - a gentle sway to the music will keep me quiet!

With new (to me) dancers I like to at least attempt to get to know names (Not that I ever really remember them )

Gadget - there is no time in any dance that you are off the floor - so we have no choice! But saying that, your eyes do your talking for you

I try and apologise if I catch myself singing - I wander aimlessly up and down the scales, pure torture to music lovers everywhere!

At the recent Blues Proms with Cleo Laine and John Dankworth, they were exploring the concept of different types of Blues, including "Happy Blues"

You should see Fletch light up when she talks about her new man . It adds to the dance incredibly

But then I've also laughed while dancing Blues....

All I meant was that I tend to go to cloud nine (or somewhere equally or else more blissful) until the three minutes is over.

Maybe it is just me, but I find that certain leaders, certain songs, and certain moves send me shooting to the stars

Get the combination of all three right and I'm dancing on the furthest constellation I'm floating so high

I think thats what you call a subtle hint, and tantamount to "shut up"

Personally, I prefer my partner to chat a little during a dance. I can feel uncomfortable if I dance with someone who doesn't utter a word..... makes me feel they are completely disinterested

Depends with me... I remember my first dance with Mr Darcy... utter silence and complete eye contact... Have to say it unnerved me a little bit at first, me being all chatty and all but it was an amazing dance and I do admit that I have to dance with Mr Darcy when I see him on the circuit now
