    Eurovision Dance Contest

I've just seen Brendan and Camilla on TV talking about how they've reformed their partnership to represent the UK in this contest.

They admitted its been quite emotional, as one of the tracks they're dancing to, is 'The way we were' but after the initial awkwardess in the first rehursal, they've managed to put the emotions to one side and, as they put it, are going to 'do it for the nation'!

    Re: Eurovision Dance Contest

I was just about to post about this!

    I need help!

I am away with jake for his birthday and we are going out to dinner when this is on! Is there anyone out there who can record this (dvd or video) and send it to me! I will pay the cost of postage and the dvd/video!

    Thanks

As much as I like them both and they are such amazing dancers - couldn't they find a couple of Brits instead

    Yes, that's a bit strange isn't it?

Also strange that there's no opportunity for the public to participate and vote beforehand, as a "dance for Europe" sort of thing - presumably if it's a success they'll do that next year.

More to the point, how did they choose between Morris Dancing and Sword Dancing to represent Britain? Who's going to claim ownership of the Waltz? And if the Spanish are in, is there actually any point in anyone else turning up?

    Re: Eurovision Dance Contest

as soon as Finland danced to Metallica dressed all in black - I wanted them to win

Russia should have got way more points - I reckoned it was between them and Finland and the Ukraine. So I was close at least. Ireland 3rd ? no way

I thought Germany were pretty poor but no one else did

I wanted Ukraine to win. But I thought Finland were great too

Ireland got it on the cute factor. A lesson we could learn from in the UK.

    Re: Eurovision Dance Contest

I thoroughly enjoyed watching it in a group. Everybody, except me chose their 1,2,3 with only one vote for Finland in 3rd. I just said Finland :smirk smiley:

But Ireland? She did not even wear green My guess is that it was that they had a national dance of merit, coupled with their obvious joy in their dancing.

It did occur to me that MJ is on its way to staking a claim for being "the" U.K. dance.

Did anyone else find it, well, a bit pants? I got bored halfway through and switched off - I turend back in to see the results is all. Although I saw Portugal's "Tango" routine, which was enough to make me

The dancers were only on the floor for about 30 seconds at a time it seemed, and I just couldn't get into it - it all seemed very rushed and disjointed.

Everyone kept on streeing "the first eurovision dance competition", so one presumes that they're looking for an ongoing thing - but it needs a bit more oomph I reckon.

It was so enthralling that I fell sound asleep and missed the second half

I am sure that if we were better Europeans and hadn't invaded Iraq we would have done a lot better

    Re: Eurovision Dance Contest

Hmmm, the typical Eurovision vote for your neighbour farce. To be honest, I'd rather watch Strictly Come Dancing.

I was a tad irritated by all the distracting ripping off of costumes part way through dances (pity one man [Switzerland?] did actually manage finally to remove his partners black trousers). The slightly bored and evil part of me wanted to see how they would carry on with her trousers wrapped around her ankles.

Was anyone else a tad appalled by the Spanish (? ) female's bikini line in the Pase Doble freestyle? The black beaded detail around the lower edge of her red costume looked like a bushy beard to me.

So disappointed that Camilla and Brendan didn't attempt morris dancing...
